I have him in my breakdown under the "others" but I just don't see LSU pulling a player of his caliber from California, with the offers he has. I would be suprised if he even visits. Hope I'm wrong.

I think he would visit if they showed the interest, he was in town last summer for a week or two, so who knows.

I see LSU consistently listed as a school of interest with Upshaw and we have offered. I have yet to find a single article with a single comment from Upshaw where he says a single word about LSU, however. If anyone can find one, please link it.

Reading some stuff on Santee. Do you think he bulks up and committs to play PF, or will he be a long 3 that can lock down the perimeter on defense?
Posted on 8/11/11 at 1:57 pm to b rod lsu
He looks like a long 3 to me, but maybe a potential PF depending on his frame/potential to bulk.
If we have 5 scholarships available, I like a guy like this that comes from a high level of competition that can grow and progress into something. If you only have 1 or 2 scholarships, you might not go after a guy like this.
ETA: Just noticed his brother, Darris Santee, played for UNLV and was a 6-8, 225, but was 6-8 and below 190 in high school. He was committed to Florida State, but didn't make his grades and went to JUCO and then UNLV. If Clyde has the same frame as his brother, he could put on some weight.

I agree with that. Everything I read online seems to point towards an agile, high energy guy who can lock onto an opposing 3 on the perimeter. Definitely would be complimentary to what we currently have now.

Yeah, I don't think we have that guy right now. Maybe Isaac, but I don't know.

Any recent updates on Wannah Bail? I would think coaches would be all over a guy with his skill set at that height. Are his issues really that serious?

Maybe some academic issues. Not only is he a foreigner, which causes problems, but he has bounced around to several schools, which is always a red flag.
I think he is a great athletic talent, but like a lot of foreign players, he is still learning the game of basketball. I'm sure LSU would take him, but he has a lot of schools in the mix. He could come down to the spring as schools track his academic progress.

Bubba any update on LJ Rose

Similar to Robert Upshaw. He lists LSU and has an offer from LSU, but I have never found a single article with a single quote or mention of LSU, period. Positive or negative.
I don't think we are even in the running, but who knows? He is losing a lot of major offers and his stock is dropping. Many are predicting he will end up at Houston. He has dropped from a 5 star to a 4, and could end up a 3 and out of the Rivals 150.

Why did you get banned elleshoe?

Honestly, that collection of talent looks just as bad, if not worse than last year's.
Really?
I'll take Hickey, Isaac, and Hamilton over Green, Dotson, and Dbeck. Dotson is terrible by the way. He might have had 3 good games in his tenure. Green and Dbeck were nice contributors though...
O'Bryant doesn't even have to be mentioned. They will be better than last year.

It's always easier to take the guy with no track record. Seriously, from what I recall, Dotson was more heralded coming in than Hickey or Isaac, so I think your reasoning may be foolish. O'Bryant is the only one I expect much out of this year. Otherwise, Hickey and Isaac probably would have had more offers. Shouldn't Jalen Courtney be ahead of Isaac, anyway?

I think Courtney is more of a post player that they are trying on the wing, because he is undersized. I haven't seen the athletic ability for that to work. I had hoped he would get a redshirt this year to develop, but after a few defections that doesn't seem likely.
On paper, Dotson was higher rated, but didn't play his senior year because of a knee injury. Hickey and Isaac both had very strong senior years, so I think they both come in with much more momentum. Trent openly said he wanted to redshirt Dotson his freshman year, but couldn't because of depth. He is saying Hickey and Isaac will be contributors and fight for starting slots.

Because of depth... This all just goes back to what side of whose mouth the rhetoric is coming from. It's all getting very repetitive and I need to see these guys produce in college before I believe a word of it. Just wait until next year, though!

You're right in saying it's easy to pick the unknown, but it's also easy to pick when you're picking against what we had last year. Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I tend to believe those guys coming in will be better than the guys that left. And like I said before, I didn't count O'Bryant which would definitely make the main point valid, which is that this years team should be better.
I'm not sure about Courtney and Isaac, but I've heard Isaac's name a lot more.

Where is the experience coming from, though? It seems like each year we are waiting for the next Freshmen to save us. As of now, only 2 players have more letters than Eddie Ludwig, and that is downright frightening.
Quite frankly, I hope you're right and they are considerably better, but hope and a dollar can't buy you a cup of Josephus these days. We'll see in November.

I'm not saying who is better or who is not, I'm just saying I can see the logic. There is really not much reason to debate it. The season will be here soon.
