For some reason, I think there was a white dude who played point guard there who was good once

He's bringing in some decent veteran talent in what looks like a class set to stabilize the program so that he will have something better to pitch to other transfers and recruits in the future.
You could make the argument he did that last season and we saw the results. It's also very likely (unless something unforeseen happens) this years HS recruiting class is going to be ranked significantly lower than last year's class...two of which are already gone. So while signing guys like Cook, Stewart, Baker, Wright, provide a basis for optimism right now, McMahon lost the benefit of the doubt with an abysmal performance this past season.
Going into last season LSU's roster and McMahon were relatively highly regarded. Enough so that almost everyone thought LSU was at the top of the "second" group of SEC teams behind Alabama, Kentucky, Auburn, Tennessee, Arkansas, and A&M. As it turned out, LSU was clearly the worst team in the league. Going into next season McMahon will have to prove it, as I doubt many will be high on LSU to start the year.

However, he is coming from a small school.
Again, WCC is a high major. They play good ball.
This isn’t Kendall Coleman coming out of the Southland

Let’s also not forget that adding Cook is the biggest piece. It impacts all these guys. He’s a true shot creator and distributor. Better looks for everyone so I don’t anticipate his efficiency to dip.
Also not having the offensive workload he had at SC should allow him to be an even better defender which he already was a good one. Adding the right pieces has tons of impact. The lack of a true PG to run an offense through killed us this year.

I think PG play will be better this year hence which will make us a better team
Justice Hill was a huge letdown in my opinion but I agree about the roster not being as bad as people think but PG play was a big issue

Cook & Stewart are both big pieces. 1st team all conference at high major schools.
Stewart has a bag, too. They should play well off one another. Start Wright at the 3.

Glad McMahon is adding players. We’ll see how it pans out in a few months.

And he was arguably the best rookie although Banchero got ROY piling up stats for a shite team

played him in high school and he dominated. was really surprised he did not have bigger offers coming out. not surprised he's done so well there. this is a good pickup
