re: LSU Baseball 2025 (and beyond) Recruiting Thread

Coleman just visited this past weekend. They may have had a conversation about his standing in the class while he was here. It kind of looked like he wasn't trending the way you'd hope given his early high ranking. No inside info, but it kept looking like as new players would get ranked, he kept moving down.

ETA: He actually took down the posts about visiting. So he may have not even visited.

ETAA: He was one of the few remaining guys that was eval'd and offered while Fitzgerald was still here as the RC. For whatever reason, we seem to have dropped a lot of those guys from our classes.

With Fauske committed, we're at 56/34 for the 2026 season. There is a chance we add another HS kid to that class in the next week or so apparently. But it's pretty clear we're expecting some draft attrition off the current roster and probably from the class as well.

It looks like we're again taking the route of "they can't possibly draft them all." It puts us in position to be in the Draft Day Winners and Draft Day Losers category at the same time. Ultimately it's a good thing for us because even if we lose 4 top 50 guys, getting 3 top 50 guys to campus is incredible.

For those not familiar with Jaden Fauske. Bats left throws right. Can pitch, catch and play many other positions. Top 20 type of prospect in the 2025 class. Big pick up.

Bubba Coleman announced over the weekend that he opened up his recruitment, confirming what we already suspected in this thread.

Where did you get this? I looked at the roster online and they have been removed, but I didn't see anything on twitter yet.

Both Schmidt and Lape struggled mightily in the fall. Just go back and check the stats. I don't disagree that the potential for both is there, and I wish them well, but the potential is what got them here. To stay, you have to show signs of life.

Schmidt will absolutely show up somewhere decent right away and be solid. He's been at Arizona and juco, then add in his experience here now. Lape is kind of a mystery. He's really had a rough time with injuries and probably doesn't really know who he is or what he wants to be yet. 94 grows on trees now, and he's really not an imposing figure. He may end up a good pitcher or position player. He wasn't a Jay recruit, I don't believe.

Do we think this is the roster that stands?

I see 2026 OF Braylen Montgomery from Walker committed to Oklahoma …. 2 years is a long time….. any LSU interest here?

That’s who I meant- Oklahoma.

He’s from my hometown… physical specimen, testing numbers jump off the page.
