I hope that’s why they are following him.
In seriousness I know nothing about him. His bat obviously doesn’t play, but maybe he’s elite defensively and would be a defensive sub - fitting the mold of “doing at least one thing really well”

If you take Moore, Burke, Amick, and Dreiling off that team i don’t see them winning the CWS so those other guys actually being from Tennessee don’t really matter.
You lost me with that argument. LSU doesn’t win the CWS with Kling instead of Jobert, Neal instead of Milazzo, Nippolt instead of Dugas. Even with Crews, White and Morgan.

To change the subject for a minute. I love the hitting potential of this freshman class. We have some portal and JUCO guys that can hit as well but just looking at the high school kids. Curiel, Pearson, Hogg, Costello and Fountain all have some impressive traits. We know Jay plays offense over defense. I wouldn't be shocked if some of them guys emerge as freshman.

That’s him. I used stats from BR which is actually his 2023 stats.
I’ll update. Thanks for catching that.

For a catcher that is apparently a good defensive presence, this would play if it translated. Hope this doesn’t mean we missed on Harrison though

He has 2 atrocious offensive seasons before that, if it matters

Just looking at the guys he had brought in regardless of whom had left or may be leaving it’s hard not to be excited for this 2025 team. The power may lack from the traditional gorilla ball lsu we knew. If anyone knows jay johnson he doesn’t necessarily like the gorilla ball mentality but more of the death by hundreds of paper cuts. I’d look for jay and his future teams to be well calculated with the ABs. Taking pitchers into longer counts, more professional ABS, more base hits. In games this year looking back we lacked the ability in big games to put pressure on opposing pitchers. Instead we relied on that long ball to win us the game. The long ball worked well for 2023 but we also would put players on. This season we had to many solo HRs. I think this 2025 roster is going to be a sleeping giant. I also think the 2024 team was underwhelming. Jay knew it. He didn’t believe in the players he had returning next year IMO and that’s why we are see this roster flip. I’m very excited for the pitching staff for next season. I think we are maybe 2 or 3 portal adds away. Players of need, 3B,SS,C, maybe 1 or 2 pitchers that we can take a flyer on with good upside.

Louisiana boy that’s why he’s staying. He wants to be here. He was hitting well before he got hurt.

Nice, Arquette was the one guy in their starting lineup I really liked that also fit our needs.

This is pretty similar to where I am at. Would be pumped with a 40 win team and get a majority of the team back for a big run in two years. I’m not sure how everyone thinks half the team leaving is normal
