Scouts are different though, they are free to move around
It’s hard for say Nolan Cain to see a Wednesday game in lake Charles if lsu is playing Nicholls at home on a Wednesday night

I know PM sent Cain to recruit several times and he missed a midweek game here and there to do that

Based on his third base coaching acumen, maybe it should have happened more often.

Brock Lansville, Cale’s younger brother, who was previously committed to Arizona State when Jason Kelly was there, has committed to former LSU assistant Dan Fitzgerald and Kansas.

Michael Fowler has indeed transferred to Tulane, despite what the D1baseball transfer portal says. He is now showing on their roster.

anyone watch the pg all american game yesterday? had 17 year olds hitting 100
pretty much every pitcher was 95+ with big time slider. was nuts.

I think velo is very important. I'm wondering at what age it's important to have it though. Knowing that velo can be added (and relatively safely), but control, command, and (maybe) feel are harder to teach, targeting a control pitcher that shows that there is still more left in the tank to add has been a development strategy for pro orgs that seem to be generating a lot of high level pitching prospects and MLB pitchers (Indians/Guardians have done this for a while, the Cardinals seem to have figured it out to some degree the last few years).
I don't know how it translates down though. I'm sure it does, and I'm sure that's something that Wes and Jay evaluate, but I'm still trying to figure out how.

well i think its kind of a middle ground. i think the best are hitting the key numbers all the way from 9u and up.
but you certainly can target guys who throw decent and have lots of movement while throwing strikes...but are still developmental in the keys to throwing hard chins, reverse lunge, body weight etc
but in general the game is moving to higher and higher velos at every level and the reason is simply when you look at batting avg and hard hit ball avg it drops dramiticaly if a kid is throwing gas for his age.
my personal opinion its easier to teach someone to throw strikes than throw hard. throwing strikes is really about being able to have repeatable movements that are smooth. from there is slowly teaching them how to adjust.
i will say though....within the decade, pretty much every decent hs pitcher will be 90+ in the 3a/4a/5a levels.
i think most in college will be 95+ only. majors 97-98+ only. with some rare exceptions.

btw the 2025 class rankings have been released for PBR
this is the class of the eastbank llws champs, sophomores this year. not a ton of surprises on the top 10.
anyone got access to pbr? interest in the 2024 and 25 top 25 for the state.
Project, any chance we flip courville, will we even need a catcher then?

Not sure why we haven't offered Louque yet. Already has offers from South Carolina and Ole Miss, amongst others.

Gavin Nix will be on that list before all is said and done. Ryan Darrah probably, too.

Andrew Ferguson from West Monroe is underrated as well.
Posted on 8/29/22 at 2:07 pm to ProjectP2294
Yep. I'm not impressed with some of the kids on that list, to be honest.

Cause no BM guys ?
Posted on 8/29/22 at 4:43 pm to Lester Earl
No, I don't judge a player by the school they go to.
Posted on 8/29/22 at 8:03 pm to Lester Earl
BM really hasn't put out a whole heck of a lot of studs, honestly. I think development has really lacked there for many years. They put some talent on the field, but really only a handful have popped. I think they had 1 D1 guy last year, and he was a very underdeveloped player (Sully Stringer signed with LA Tech). If at least a few of the kids they have there now don't pop in the next few years, you really have to wonder. 1 shabby D1 guy every year or 2 really isn't much to talk about.
