We had a couple guys that could run (Watson, Gio, Duplantis to an extent), but there was no consitency.

Gio was recruited by Cannizaro.

Duplantis was recruited by Javy.

Watson was recruited by one of those two, but I'm not sure which.

Man, that sucks.. I really liked Dan. If Kelly goes too, while I bet we could even upgrade there and that we’ll get another great recruiting guy but turning around a program is hard without some semblance of stability.

Cannizaro.
What he did with our run game was incredible...and the hitters.

He did a good job of recruiting top heavy classes with headliners but the talent in the depth of the classes was sorely lacking. So when we missed out on those draft guys, we relied on a talent pool that was less than optimal (pre transfer portal era).

Happy for coach Fitz but kinda pissed as a fan. I always liked how coach Fitz was able to get Dallas Baptist into the postseason as that school is I believe less than 2000 enrollment, in any case, it's small.

Loudmouth on the radio is already pushing for 2 guys with "Louisiana Ties" that would be slam dunks if they were to be hired. I totally trust CJJ with this and actually I hope it's a guy from the West Coast. Whoever it is I'm sure it will be a great hire!

I'm not going to hate on Cain because when he jumped in (2017 I think) he was brand new and had a lot to learn....his recruiting classes outside of 2018 were massive disappointments year in and year out at positions of need C and SS.

The game is completely changing overnight with the transfer portal and I have no doubt he'll be successful.

With that being said another guys deserves a shot.

I got to know Coach Butler well when I camped and toured Arkansas in HS. He was fantastic to be around, unlike DVH.

I stopped giving Kendall at D1 my money (don't miss it) after he gave an interview with Moscona earlier this year in which he could not stop talking about A&M. Asked anything about LSU he threw in a comparison to A&M that made LSU look inferior. Asked about the SEC he mentioned A&M as above LSU. It was intentional. It was six or seven times, every other sentence A&M this and A&M that. Moscona got on the topic of 2022 Tennessee and at the conclusion of the interview, asked Kendall who it was that sent the 56-4, 2017 #1 Oregon State team home in tears. Kendall would not answer "LSU". Matt had to say "it was LSU by the way" after Kendall hung up. He is working it hard for his team, LSU is in his crosshairs.

I stand corrected. Cain was worse than I thought

I'm heading out in about 30 minutes to go grab a bite to eat and go to the Cardinals game. Because I'll be away from the internet for the most part, I expect we'll have multiple commits this evening.

A little weird [catcher] IMO.

really weird. Weird going forward. Milazzo is an upperclassman. Bianco and Travinski are too. Priester is either gone for good or he shows out in the Cape and we re-recruit him, although I doubt the latter. God forbid a 2023 injury to Milazzo, plus you can't go wire-to-wire with one guy anyway. Can't put my finger on where Jay is headed with the position because it seems from the uninformed point of view, that for 2023 it's Milazzo and whomever returns. IDK maybe he loves Travinski's bat? As for me I've seen enough passed balls this year to last the next decade and defensively Travinski seems like McManus 2.0. I'm still confused by the strong push to get Priester only to help him pack his bags less than twelve months later

Why would you want another west coast guy?

Priester won't show out in the Cape because he isn't playing in the Cape. He is playing in the Northwoods League this summer for Lacrosse. Right now he is hitting .200 in 35 AB with 2 HR and 19K. That is a 54% K rate. Don't think he will be the answer for next season. You roll with who you have and hope that at least 2 of the freshman get to campus. From there if a decent catcher worth taking falls in your lap from the transfer portal then great.

Heard the same. Great baseball guy. I think he's a McNeese assistant AD. Thought he was done coaching but something like this could entice him to come back.
