Good deal, thanks. I assume we see some more names in the portal the next time D1Baseball makes an update. Or more announcements like Gio's soon.
ETA: What I don't think we will get is old fashioned reporting.

So we will likely be seeing a few more transfer portal announcements in the coming days.

I have 61 guys on my list for next year. 5 in the portal publicly at this point, one whose status is very unknown (Haddad), 2 certain draftees off the roster, 3 certain draftees off the commit list. Just subtracting those guys gets us to 50. That won't be the end of the draft hits off either the roster or the commit list, but say there are 7 more guys drafted, that puts us at 43. We have some wiggle room with super seniors, but that's still a lot of guys to lose, especially since we're still shopping for ingredients.

My numbers must be a little off then. I have 63 on my list to start with.
Thinking after the draft is done it will be closer to 40-42 before adding whatever transfers they go after. Will be a crazy off season to keep up with. Should be fun.

Anyone see if we're linked to Day from Missouri? Would be a great fall back after missing on Ahuna.

He's not in the portal. We have speculation, that's it. We have discussed him in this thread as a possibility because there is thought he may hit the portal and we may be in a good position for him if he does.
I think some people have taken that discussion as actual news when it shouldn't have been taken that way.

So how do any of those numbers prove having him on the infield would be a disaster, in addition to proving that he is not good anywhere on defense?
Because if he was capable of playing the infield, he’d be playing in the infield
Especially after this past’s years disaster on the infield. You don’t think he would have played there if he were good at it?

Dude can barely play LF at an average clip

Sorry, thought I saw it confirmed that he was in. My bad.

That's a bad take. He plays LF just fine. He would be capable of playing 2B and 3B with an offseason of reps at those positions. He was capable of playing every position on the field in high school and played them well. With the injury issues he was barely capable of playing LF so using this season as a point of him not being tried in the infield because he isn't good at it doesn't really make sense.

What he did in HS is completely irrelevant
This isn’t some charity case program. You either want to be better on defense next year, or you don’t. If you do, Gavin Dugas is not playing on the infield. Peridot.

He plays LF, the least important defensive position on the field, just fine for a guy that does not really have a position.
He doesn’t play LF well in comparison to a real OF that plays LF well.

He started both his freshman and sophomore seasons as primarily a 2B. It's weird to think of him at 3B, but it's not weird to think of him or Pearson at 2B. Like I said, that would absolutely not be a defensive move at all and I just don't know that we can stomach another poor defensive year unless we build some super pitching staff.

Y’all need to just ignore LE. This is the same dude that said a high end baseball player would only get 5k a year because there is no money in baseball. Meanwhile people are offering 1 year transfers 200k.

Ok, who are you taking out, Berry or Doughty?

This is just false, and you have no evidence to back up anything you are saying.

Johnson is not going to regress defensively D. C’mon now. Dude is embarrassed by what happened this year.
One thing I enjoyed about JJ was that he did not frick around this year. The best guys played. And when someone got hot, he gave them a chance to stick it out. And when they cooled off, he found better. He just did not have the options on the infield to do this.
He’s not sitting around saying Gavin Dugas is the medicine for our bad infield defense. I guarantee that

Let's get back on the recruiting topic

He said publicly that he would look at him at 3B if he came back. That could be blowing smoke.

Hunter Haas to A&M official.

This is legitimately off the wall. You can’t take an honest baseball discussion here? Not insulting anyone & you come running up in here with this silly shite

That’s the point, he wasn’t an upgrade

Tens of Thousands of hours of watching professional & college baseball over the years. Not a brag, just what it is. OF defense is about the easiest thing to eyeball. And Dugas is average on his best day
