Potential portal name to watch: hunter haas, Arizona state. Not great numbers this year but was good as a freshman. Connection to JK, obviously.
ETA: he had a rotator cuff injury and may have started playing too early.

Arizona State has a ton of guys in the portal.

Is there a coaching change there or something?

Is there catcher in the portal?

There was last year. New guy is having some growing pains learning the college game after being a pro coach his whole career.

If you’re talking about Campos, no. I doubt he enters. He was signed with Arizona but ended up at Arizona State after Jay came here. Had glowing words about the ASU coach recently.

I agree with you. I always thought Deichmann was a good comparison. And Deichmann didn't play much his freshman year, then struggled with strikeouts his second year. It took him some time before he was good. Too bad Drost struggled so bad in the fall and spring.
I get the physical comparison (i.e. fairly big LHH) but they're totally different players. Drost is nowhere near as athletic. Deichmann put on some size here, but he was still a great athlete. SS in high school. Drost isn't a bad athlete, but still. Deichmann was also very fundamental from the standpoint of barrel control. Drost isn't fundamental at the plate at all - he leaks way too often, spins off, etc. Very prone to strikeouts with so much going on in his approach and swing.
Could Jay develop Drost? Sure. But, he has so many other really good options in the OF now and coming that will need less development. No need for him to bend over backwards for Drost.

At 6-foot-8 and 240 pounds and with a fastball that already reaches 98 mph, Shores fits the prototype of a physical Texas flamethrower. He has been inconsistent this spring, looking like a top-two-rounds talent at times but struggling with the consistency of his secondary pitches and control at others.
Here’s the answer for Shores drop. Perfect situation for him to come in an immediately improved his stock as a weekend starter

Tripp Haddad is playing for the Hi-Toms in the Coastal Plain League. He was redshirting off the roster this year. Still listed as being from LSU on their roster. Not sure his status for next season.

Not gonna get my hopes up, but if he lasts through 2 rounds, get that boy some NIL money and convince him he'll be our staff ace within a year.
We need all the talented arms we can get.

Project, I usually stick to facts on here and I don’t follow the portal. But I’m hearing to keep an eye on a SEC SS that may hit the portal soon

I will be furiously researching this for the rest of the evening
I’m laughing, but not joking

If I’m not mistaking he may be close to you. Hint

For some reason I thought he was a senior. He’s legit. Was a Mississippi JUCO kid.

That’s why I only like to post facts. I have done zero research on it. Strictly going off of hearsay

I guess he still gets the covid year even though he was at Co Lin 2020?

Yeah, some Juco guys got two COVID years.

That’s cool, I appreciate you bringing some info.
We are definitely in the market for infielders. The kid from San Francisco still hasn’t hit the portal. Every program is after Ahuna, one SEC coach visited him on Monday and he will be taking a visit to that school this week.

Is he not going info draft?
Posted on 5/30/22 at 1:16 pm to Lester Earl
He may. But he might be one of those borderline guys that doesn’t get more than like $75k in the last 10 rounds, or only 20k as a UDFA. I think he’s squarely in the category that NIL could make a difference for.
