Project, the kid from Northwest Rankin never committed to LSU?

I forgot about that. I guess it was one of those things where it shows up on PG but isn't real. They have a kid from Florida listed in the 2023 class for us that I haven't been able to verify yet.

Thanks for info Project.
The Priester saga is getting more interesting. Priester could be our starting catcher in 2023, so worth monitoring. I don't want to get into a lot of speculation, but we know talent is not the issue. My first thought was academics, but I did read he was a good student (if accurate). I'm not sure what his situation is, but I believe he wants to be at LSU, so lets hope it works out for him and us.

What exactly is the saga? He’s not on the roster, classes start next week. If he’s going to play baseball this spring, it will be at another school

I don't think there is any saga, just a dearth of information. JUCOs started practicing this week and he hasn't popped up on any rosters that I've seen. Meridian has not updated their roster yet though, and that's who he was committed to previously. He's listed on summer roster as being from LSU (but I've seen that be wrong even during the summer season before, so it's not super reliable info). He also hasn't changed his info on twitter, neither has Haddad or Smith.
I think it's still an outside possibility that he redshirts off roster, but that seems to fit Haddad more than Priester.
The only player that dropped off the roster since the fall that has landed somewhere else is Dawson Gause.
ETA: Just did another routine check of some of the JUCOs I look at regularly. Brant Smith has landed at Northwest Florida State. That's a good spot for him and a good program.

I'm just trying to figure out his plan. I'm sure he has aspirations of pro ball. I assume he is not hanging out with Arik Gilbert. JUCO is the only option I can think of at this point, but I'm no expert. Is there a reason he has not already enrolled in a JUCO that we know of, or that his bio still reads LSU?

Priester was in one of the videos Jacques Doucet tweeted from practice the other day, he’s still with the program. Changed his Twitter bio from LSU commit to LSU baseball player. We will see if he gets added to the roster or if he redshirts.

That's good news. The roster management is still a little confusing to me. If I understand correctly, even medical redshirts count against the roster if they are on scholarship. We are at 42 and need to get to 40 without including Priester. There is a possibility Tranvinski plays in 2022 according to Johnson but I don't know if he is just talking about DH. I would think we need more than 2 catchers for 2022. I don't think Priester is ready yet, but as a third catcher might work.

LSU is one of the last SEC teams to get their roster sorted out this spring.

How’d we get to 42??? Thought we were way over. Maybe I haven’t been paying attention

Smith, Brady, Haddad, B Doughty, Wyeth and Priester not listed on the roster.

A&M had a camp this weekend and brought in a bunch of Louisiana kids.
Just like Napier at Florida, if they want to focus on Louisiana and not their own talent rich state, it’s going to be short ride for them.

2024 inf Michael Ryan from Rummel committed today. Tweeted it 5 minutes ago. I’ll add him to the list tomorrow.
