Kling started a little slow but has been hitting the last few games. Has a .269 avg (7/26) right now with 6K/3BB and is 3-4 on stolen bases.

Surprises me Frey didn’t report last week. They must have wanted him to get the extra ABs

Was curious to if he would get any kind of work in a corner OF position.

I'm not familiar with the Rocky Mountain League but maybe wanted to see him get some ABs against better competition than what he had to face in Louisiana 2A baseball. Get a better idea of what will be coming on campus before he gets here for fall ball.

I wish they would have picked a better league to send him to.
I feel like we used to send more incoming freshmen out too. Only 3 of them in this class.

Frey passes the eye test.

He's built like a brick shithouse.

Frey and Jones are big dudes, Kling is tall but has a frame to add good weight.

Prep Baseball Report put out a draft risk piece today. Nothing earth shattering but the new information is that Micah Bucknam is expected to sign.

I really want Frey to be our college Aaron Judge. Play a solid RF with a big arm and hit tanks

I like Frey and Jones build bc they're not just lanky guys. Both should be athletic enough to play 1B and RF, too.

I bet the draft date plays a big part. Jay probably rathers having guys like Guidry, Neal and Jones living on campus and speaking to them daily in person vs sending them across the country to get some at bats that pro teams can still evaluate. On Mik’d up he mentioned Guidry as the name to watch but didn’t mention any of the other guys who moved in or guys like Kennedy, shores etc. you can tell he thinks Guidry is the jewel of the class.

Interesting that they also list Moffett as more likely to go pro than Kennedy, Shores, Guidry etc

Frey is athletic enough to get out to RF, but I didn't think Jones would be also. Pictured him more of a C/1B. I can be wrong on that though.

At this point the goal is to land 5 out of Jones, Neal, Guidry, Shores, Noot, Moffett, Bucknam, Kennedy, and Herring. Anything more than 5 will be a bonus to me.

I said this earlier in the longer breakdown I did on the draft risk guys, but I feel like that was the way he was leaning by the way he decided after last years draft to use his grade 13 eligibility. He is also doing well in the MLB draft league with 1 ER in 17+ IP.

I'm sure this has been discussed, but to break up some of the draft talk...
Who is the better catching prospect in this class?

Brady Neal
He wasn't too highly thought of around the draft circles because he was mostly considered a solid defensive catcher until his bat came around this past summer and sky-rocketed up the boards

Neal by a pretty wide margin.
Out of just Frey and Jones, I think Jones probably has the edge over Frey right now.
