Project,

I was reading this article and noticed a couple of things. First Kling is listed as undecided. I think he still signs with us but apparently he did open the door with the coaching change.
I also noticed vanderbilt has 7 of the top 20 committed to then. Is this typical of them?
There was also a high profile committed to a JUCO. Why would he not commit to an universtiy? I was thinking of Priester.

That's from August. Kling has visited since then and still shows himself as committed on Twitter. He's also retweeting every LSU commit.

Cam Collier is committed to Chipola because he reclassified from 2023 to 2022 and is graduating at semester and will be at Chipola in the spring. He will still be draft eligible and may still be committed to Louisville as well, but I doubt that matters.

From Baseball america on this commit

Mikey Romero, SS, Orange (Calif.) Lutheran HS
Travel Team: San Diego Show
Commitment: Louisiana State

Romero was one of the most impressive pure hitters of the event. He finished tied for second among all players with nine total hits, and his six games played were the fewest of any of the six players who tallied at least nine hits.

His twitchy hands and a fluid, lefthanded stroke were on full display Sunday night in a matchup against righthander Xavier Cardenas III, who touched 98 mph and was one of the hardest-throwing pitchers of the tournament.

In his first at-bat of the game, Romero got into a 1-1 count and then turned on a 95 mph fastball thigh-high, and drove it hard on a line to right field for a well-struck single. Romero has solid rhythm and fluidity in the batter’s box, and uses a simple step forward to start his swing, while keeping his head steady throughout contact and staying within his back leg well.

Romero’s stroke is tailored for line drives at the moment, but he uses the entire field with authority and has driven the ball with more impact during recent events than scouts might have expected entering the summer. Listed at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, Romero isn’t the most physically imposing player, but his bat speed, wrist strength and feel for the barrel place him among the better pure bats of the class—all while showing impressive actions at shortstop.

He’s making a case for himself as the top prep shortstop in the class.

He was on a podcast recently with Prospects Live maybe? Not sure. I haven't been able to listen to it yet.

That BA article also touched on Justin Crawford, and one other commit whose name is slipping my mind currently.

We have over 60 guys for 38 spots for the 2022-23 season. Those numbers will fall before even this spring season, and then again after the draft.

I know those numbers are high

I can definitely see schools oversigning now especially with the high draft risks, if you lose them, you can then hit the portal if you have to

A lot of these guys in the current class will probably get drafted high plus you are going to lose several off the current team

C Doughty
B Doughty
Dugas
Hilliard
Shaffer
Berry
Reyzelman
Milazzo (if he hits a little his defense could get him drafted)
Wyeth
Fontenot
Vietmier

Recruits that probably get drafted
Kennedy
Frey
Jones
Kling (I don't even think he is a current commit, still open)
Toman (dad will probably push him to college)
Moffett
Guidry
Neal (reclassified and is a high prospect)
Romero
Snelling
Crawford
Bronzini
Siravo

Mitchell Sanford has resurfaced at UT-Arlington. I don't think that's been reported anywhere. I just found him on their roster.

It's a reasonable though given that Toman's dad is a college head coach. It doesn't always work that way. Kids of college coaches sign pro out of high school from time to time. Matt Holiday, Brett Anderson, MJ Melendez are a few notable examples I can think of off the top of my head.

Most of these guys aren't factored into my list of 64 players for 38 spots, because they won't have any eligibility beyond the upcoming season.

I don't think we're tied to this kid in any way, but former St Aug player Kenya Huggins is now at Chipola. He was late pop up guy last spring that generated some buzz. He had signed with Louisiana Tech. I just noticed him on the Chipola roster. I'm mentioning him here as he was brought up on this board in the past as a guy the previous staff should have pursued.

He's back on the market, I'm interested to see how he develops.

Some time today, Eastern Oklahoma State will be playing D1 Central Arkansas. Nate Ackenhausen is scheduled to throw, I think. I've not been able to even find a game time, let alone a link to video, audio, or stat tracker. If anyone finds anything, please post it.

I just think Toman's dad may push him to college with track records of players like Bregman and Swanson
Now, if he goes 1st round he's probably gone, we'll know after the draft

Shores is the top uncommitted 2022 pitcher in Texas. He was previously committed to either Oklahoma State or Baylor (I don't remember which one) but we've been on him for a while now. He would be a huge get.

The 2022 recruiting class is going to be huge in numbers. I don't know if it's something Johnson is going to do going forward, but it seems like he likes competition in the fall and he likes big classes even if they get hit by the draft.
