I just listened to Pineda on AYS podcast last night. Some takeaways.
1. Well spoken.
2. He is honored to be at LSU and chose LSU over Texas.
3. Talked about how dangerous this line up was going to be next season.
4. Lead by an example guy. Just wants to make it to Omaha and win.
5. Friends with the Bregman family.
LSU got a very good player but an even better representative of the university. He will be a fan favorite. Just from listening to him I think his style of play will resemble Cole Freeman from 2017.

We could only be so lucky! You have to have those guys to win a title.
That's what slipped after 2017 - not the top 5 players on the roster, but like 10-25. I think Jay is doing all he can to get that talent back up!

May be old news, but sure Denton and Money were on the same Little League World Series team.

He did this at UNO. His numbers were still good against better teams, and the numbers are nothing to sneeze at regardless of the competition, but let's not pretend that he's a finished product.

This means nothing, but I didn't know the guy so I went to look at his stats. UNO beat Oklahoma two out of three this year and Larry went:
3 for 7
2 for 5
2 for 4
Just interesting is all. Hope we can get the guy. Seems like a player.

I’m a fan of JT tools, I’m not advocating for him to be the every day SS. I wouldn’t hate Larry at 2B, Pineda SS, JT 3rd. Would welcome Denton as well though. Would definitely fix our middle infield issue with those two

I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Thompson win the shortstop job. He has all of the raw talent to be an elite shortstop. He just hasn’t put it together as of now.
I’m not predicting it but it wouldn’t surprise me.

Would we say Zane Denton, Josh Day, and Amani Larry are the top 3 likely position player transfers at the moment?
Obviously I would assume we are on all quality pitchers...

I would say no on Josh Day since we got Pineda. He's not even in the portal yet though.

Carter Young seems like a possibility now. As Nap said, we've been in contact. And if I'm right about Tutko's role, he's going to visit or had visited.

Young has been on campus

Carter Young would be nice.
Young and Pineda would solidify the infield around a Thompson, Romero, Guidry.
I mean, think about an infield of:
1B - Morgan
2B - Young/Guidry
SS - Pineda/Romero
3B - Denton/Thompson

It'd be just as deep as the outfield. Hell of a problem to have.

that's certainly the quality starters and depth we have been lacking for awhile now. I'm all for that and to not have to force freshman into the every day lineup. Experience wins in Omaha, I think Jay knows it too.

Young would be an interesting take. A .200 hitter as a junior isn’t ideal.
The baseball portal is going much slower than I expected. We’ve apparently had a ton of visits, but only 2 guys have pulled the trigger. I would think things would be a little more cut and dry. Some of these guys will have big roles regardless of the draft, so not much sense in waiting.

Yep. Alot of things have to happen to get there, but you just never know.

Young was injured last year. So which one is the real Young, freshman numbers or sophomore numbers

You can't just look at stats. He's played on USA national teams. He came into Vandy as the top ranked SS in the nation. His stats last year were better than this year, but he didn't really look any different than he did the past 2+ years from a pure baseball player - he just struggled to get in a rhythm. Vandy was a complete mess. He's been there, he's done that. Would be a great infielder and bottom of the order threat, at worst.
