Looks like MLB.com came out with their top 100 MLB prospects (college and high school together).

Daniel Espino #22
Rece Hinds #35
Maurice Hampton #38
Jimmy Lewis #63
Josh Smith #74
Zack Hess #83
Christian Cairo #99

Needless to say, it's going to be an interesting June and I hope we have some solid backup plans.

Thank you for the headsup.

I've been doing some calculations with the roster, and potential draftees and such. I honestly think we'd be better served to not really pursue "back up" plans and just have less "forced attrition."

Our best teams in terms of post season performance (2009,2017) have been the teams that had the most players in the program for the longest time. I scored it just based on years in the program, so a freshman and a new JC transfer were a 0, sophomore a 1, etc. Redshirts years were counted as well. Those two years scored the highest.

We may get hit hard by the draft on both the current roster and the recruiting class, and still come out looking pretty good for the 2020 season if we keep guys already in the program in the program.

I don't like that we consistently lose about 25% of expected returnees each year (which in this case are guys that could have been back on the roster but aren't, and doesn't count guys that were drafted and signed. I consider drafted guys "good" attrition).

Who are you guys predicting will be drafted this year?
I am predicting Josh Smith, Antoine Duplantis, Zack Hess and Zach Watson will be drafted and signed. Other interesting guys in my eyes are Todd Peterson and Chris Reid. Would love to hear your guys' thoughts.

I couldn't agree more. Guys like Rankin Woley and Nick Webre that I feel could have had good careers here. Speaking of which, where is Nick Webre these days?

Webre went to LSUE for this season. I see he's only played in 14 games this season. I don't know if there was an injury or something. He hasn't played since March 2nd.

ETA: He's not on their roster anymore, so who knows what's going on with him.

Project, I was wondering if you could catch myself as well as others I’m sure, on summer assignments. Thanks.

I hope we are still on the lookout for JUCO lefties that can help immediately. I would like to see us go after Cameron Tullar from Wabash Valley. Freshman, so he'd come in as a sophomore, helping space out the guys on the roster. He threw a no-hitter earlier this year, and he's struck out 91 in 56 innings. He plays on the number 1 JUCO team in the country: Stats

Is he not a draft risk? Genuinely wondering, have no idea if he’s picked up any traction.

In my opinion I don't see Hinds, Doughty, Lewis, Espino or Hampton Jr. stepping foot on campus...I think we all knew Hinds and Espino will likely be 1st rounders. Lewis has really climbed the ranks, Doughty will likely be a 2-4th rounder and Hampton Jr. is a wild card with tons of athleticism. Still a little over 3 weeks from the draft and a lot could change. Guys like Christian Cairo I see coming to campus with a lot to offer but undersized for pro ball. What's your guys' thoughts on recruits coming to LSU or choosing the pro ranks out of HS...

One thing I’ve learned about baseball recruiting is there is always a going to be 1-2 guys in the reported class that aren’t actually part of the class. There were 3 last year who were either released from their loi, or planned on signing wherever they were taken.

There is someone listed on the perfect game commit list that I haven't been able to confirm is a real person. So I've left him off the list.

247 has like 5 guys on their list that aren't in the class because they copied my list a couple years ago and never adjusted it.

Andrew Lee was on the list for a while, I saw a pic of him signing his LOI. But he didn't even make the team at Eastern Florida State JUCO.

He was one of Cannizaro's finds. I only point that out to illustrate that his recruiting wasn't quite as great as people try to claim.

He’s a top 100 draft prospect on MLB.com so no. Unless they count last year as a redshirt year then there’s no chance

I’m not up to date on the baseball redshirt rules but if last year doesn’t qualify him for a medical redshirt year then idk what the frick would.

I also don’t think he’ll be back regardless though
