It appears that CPM is getting over his penchant for "smaller" players. Some of these guys are huge.

Lsu picked up a teammate of john kodros today. Coppell, TX rhp Rye Gunter committed to lsu. Hes 6'5" and in the 2018 class.

The Cannizaro news makes me nervous about our 2018 classes and beyond. Also a little nervous about our 2017 class, especially if there are guys that don't sign on Wednesday.
Just saw local LSU commit Tanner Allen signed with Miss State today

"First, getting an offer from LSU is extremely humbling," Allen told AL.com Monday night. "That place is awesome. It's not the top program in the country for no reason. That said, last week, when coach Cannizaro was hired at Mississippi State, it kind of changed things. My main "recruiting" relationship and my strongest relationship was with him. It made me wonder.

Isn't Allen really good?

Yeah. Very good. I was really looking forward to him playing at LSU. I knew this would be an issue, especially since there were rumors that Canny and Mainieri didn't mesh all that well. It's why I've said it's of paramount importance that we get a big time recruiter on the staff to replace him.

Andy to MSU will be a difference maker for a couple seasons. He's made a lot of connections with kids the next few cycles for LSU.

Yeah, we've got some unreal talent in the 2018 class lined up, but it's going to be tough to hold onto it. 2018 is a loaded class overall from a draft standpoint as well, so I can see a lot of really talented guys making it to college because of so many supremely talented guys taking up all the bonus money.
Back on Allen though, it hurts from the standpoint that he could have been an immediate impact bat in the lineup and basically was blank slate from a position standpoint. He really could slot in anywhere on the diamond. We've got 17 guys remaining in the class. Only 3 of them are non-catcher position players, Webre, Pearson, and Hughes. Reyes and Cabrera are both guys that could do both. Storz could potentially as well. But Storz and Cabrera are probably more likely to sign than step on campus at this point.
Some other news on Nate Pearson, the big JUCO righty, I've put him in the high draft risk category because at a JUCO showcase he was at the weekend before committing, he hit triple digits on the radar gun.

I honestly would have rather given CPM to state than canny

I've heard through the "grapevine" that Miguel Reyes may have had his offer/scholarship revoked by LSU. From what I'm hearing, he has ALOT of off the field issues......I guess since LSU really doesn't provide a press release on the signing class, we won't know for sure until later on down the road. If it's true, very sad, very talented kid with a TON of raw ability.

I've been wondering about that for a while now. I'll keep an eye out for anything I can find. If that's the case, I expect us to hit the JUCO market for at least one bat.
Players with similar issues to what Reyes has dealt with were either dropped from the recruiting class or kicked off the team.

PM made the same mistake with Canni as he does with many players. He knows how to get them here, but once he's done that part, the honeymoon is over. People learn that he's not the same person as a recruiter and coach. And that's true to some extent everywhere to be fair. But he is pretty blatant about it. Turns many people off... good people.

Where did Tigerbait get their list?
Posted on 11/16/16 at 6:50 am to tomcat4
No idea. Haven't looked at tiger bait since about 2003. Is it any different than mine?

Besides Tanner Allen, did we lose any commitments, I understand Miguel Reyes might not be a part of this class.

About a month ago Johnny Ray decommitted to sign with Illinois State. That didn't have anything to do with Cannizaro leaving though. Probably got a better scholarship allocation from his home state school.

I mentioned the other day that I thought new JUCO signee Nate Pearson was High draft risk based on his performance at a recent showcase. Perfect game recently came out with their top 50 JUCO draft prospect list and he's the top guy on the list. LINK
Whole list is behind a paywall, so I don't know if Feduccia is on it, but the link shows the top 10.
