LSU picked up their first 2020 commit yesterday in South Carolina Shortstop Vince Smith, per Jheremy Brown of Perfect Game.
That gives LSU commits for the next 4 classes. I know it may seem early (and it is), but Miami already has about 6 commits for 2020 and one for 2021. It's getting a little absurd how early recruiting is happening, but I guess that's how things go now.
ETA: I've also taken a couple of guys off the 2019 list because I couldn't find any verification anywhere.

I'll be updating periodically with some notes from the WWBA tournament as I find them.
Here is some info on a couple LSU pitchers: PBR

Here is some info on a couple LSU pitchers: PBR
Devin Fontenot:
quote:
Louisiana State commit. 6-foot-2, 178-pound frame. Works from a ¾ slot with whippy arm action and a smooth delivery. His fastball has arm-side run at 87-89 mph, topping out at 90 mph. His slider has sweepy lateral action at 75-76 mph. Fontenot also came in relief in the last game of the weekend to close out a 6-4 win. From the stretch, he starts with a closed angle set-up showing his back to the batter, athletic delivery and quick arm back to front. His velo was 87-89 mph with arm-side run, while the slider was 73-76 mph.
John Kodros:
quote:
Louisiana State commit. 6-foot-5, 175-pound wiry frame. The projectable left-hander works from a ¾ arm slot, whippy arm-action with a high leg kick in the delivery, creates some deception. Four-seam fastball ranged from 84-86 mph, while his two-seam fastball has great arm-side run at 81-82 mph. Kodros used his slider this day as his out pitch, it had 2-8 shape with big, slurvey break at 75-76 mph.

The action heated up during Day Three of the World Wood Bat Championship in Jupiter on Saturday as teams battled to get into Sunday’s playoff round. 2018 RHP Landon Marceaux (Destrahan HS, LA) set the tone for Team Evoshield by going five no-hit innings with eight strikeouts and one walk. The future LSU Tiger was extremely efficient needing just 64 pitches (46 strikes) to get through the outing. Marceaux utilized a fastball that sat 86-88 mph and touched 90 without, hardly, any effort. His command of the fastball to both sides of the plate, a sharp 11/5 curveball (75-77 mph), and fading changeup (78-79 mph) demonstrated advanced pitchability. Almost appearing bored, Marceaux crafted his pitches with thoughtful intent and precision utilizing a fluent motion and quick arm to dominate the opposition. His command is already a major weapon, and he will see an increase in velocity as he continues to mature...

We pretty much never get updates on when guys actually sign their LOIs, so I don't really expect that to be different this year, but the early signing period begins Wednesday 11/9. I will confirm any signings that I can.

The Cannizaro news makes me nervous about our 2018 classes and beyond. Also a little nervous about our 2017 class, especially if there are guys that don't sign on Wednesday.

Former Tiger and current Chipola short stop Trey Dawson has committed to Kentucky.

I was about to ask some of y'all what the fallout will likely be.

Does the loss of Cannizzaro affect any recruits?

We won't really know anything about the 2017 class until at least Wednesday, but I'm hopeful that it won't have an affect there.
The 2018 class is loaded, and with players not from Louisiana, so it may be open season on those guys in the near future. Paul needs to make a damn good hire.

From Jheremy Brown on Twitter, a good sign on the recruiting front after the departure of Cannizaro. LSU picks up 2019 Catcher Hayden Travinski from Loyola College Prep.
Perfect Game Profile
ETA: Some follow up on this commitment. Travinski was first team 3A All State as a freshman last season. He slashed .420/.586/.642. All three of those categories led his team. He his 2 home runs and had 25 RBIs as well.

Today is signing day. I will be trying to find any info I can on guys signing their LOIs. It's usually not easy to come by though.
ETA: Nothing official from LSU yet but Twitter confirmations have come through on Pearson, Kodros, Hughes and Schroer. Just saw confirmation on Mason Doolittle. My personal favorite recruit, Nick Webre, is in.

Best hitter I've seen at every age I've seen him play. Saw him get intentionally walked every AB except 2 at 8 years old in a tournament. In those 2 ABs he hit the ball roughly 250. Better person than baseball player too. HUGE get by LSU today.

That's Jacob Pearson and his parents behind him.

Some updates on JUCO righty Nate Pearson that LSU picked up the other day. While he's at Central Florida College currently, he started his career at Florida International under former LSU assistant Turtle Thomas. He made one start in 18 appearances there. In 32.2 innings he struck out 33 batters. He had decent WHIP of 1.36. He was 1-1 with a 2.76 ERA.
I will work on finding some summer league stats on him if they're out there.
ETA: He made one start for the Staunton Braves in the Valley league over the summer throwing 5 innings and striking out 6. Walked 4 and gave up 3 hits and 2 runs. That was his only appearance for them.
He was ranked number 206 in the Perfect Game Top 500 in the 2015 high school class.

Here is a great feature story on Nick Webre from the Lafayette Advertiser on his signing with LSU yesterday: LINK

Pearson chose the Tigers over offers from Mississippi State among others. “Baton Rouge is a home town kind of thing,” Pearson said. “Growing up in West Monroe , Louisiana I have been an LSU fan my whole life. Getting an opportunity to play there – I couldn’t turn it down.”

Hey Project I not only agree with your thoughts on Webre as a player but can also see what a great kid this young man is. LSU is lucky to get 'em. I think he will be a special player the next 3 years.

Is there anywhere where I can find the list of Signees

Lsu doesn't release that for baseball. The first post in the thread is the closest you'll get.
