Good stuff.
Love the versatility
That is one of the variables I was talking about
Where is just a ball player
Really like him

Time to start exhaling in regards to Cabrera and Storz.

Adam, can MLB Teams draft in college seniors in the middle rounds save Money because of no leverage, & draft high school seniors in later rounds & put a fat signing bonus on them?

Yeah. That's typically why you'll see some seniors go in the 4,5,6 rounds.
The guys getting drafted tomorrow, it's much more of a crapshoot if they sign. The first 100k of their bonus is exempt, but any amount after that counts against the pool. Teams will take flyers on signability risks and see what shakes out with their budget after a few weeks.

They can only get savings from under slot deals in rounds 1-10. If they have money available they can certainly throw it at a high school player late, but they don't save anything by signing a college senior for $10K in round 20.
ETA: Sorry, didn't see Project's response.

Meh, it takes a lot of people to fully explain everything. There are so many nuances.
We're still looking very good despite the draft defections to this point. I really like our class, and this hasn't changed that. We've still got a ton of arm talent coming in.

I was going to say exactly what project said, in theory they can but they cannot just say "I won't sign this 6th rounder from high school and throw it all towards a 21st pick" it's more of an excess if you've used it all.
The best example of this was in 2014 when the Astros were trying to sign Aiken 1st round, Nix 5th round, and Marshall 21st round.

If a team has an excess of pool money AFTER signing their top picks they may spend it elsewhere only.

I think we have atleast 1 or 2 arms that will surprise some people and will be a future starter. Fontenot is one and Vietmeier is another. I also think Kodros can be a huge asset out the pen if he can pitch with control. His funky left handed delivery and big breaking ball gives him a big ceiling

Vietmeier really intrigues me and so does Keller.
Kodros is listed at 6-5 and 166. Maybe we should call him Ichabodros; that's one skinny SOB.
But the guy who's going to make the big impact is Taylor Petersen. That's your closer next year.

Agree with all of this
Good quality arms coming in

I think Peterson averaged like 2 k's per INNING last season. I can see him being a closer

I know I shouldn't but I'm getting really excited about the possibility of Storz and Cabrera making it to campus. Stranger things have happened though.

Cabrera hasn't been in the lineup the past 3-4 games for his summer team. I wonder if he got hurt or went home

Storz to 1B?
Bryce could get his DH spot back next year and Beau, bless his heart, could be first sub in?
