Ah okay, so just Cooper would be taking the RS. I remember reading that one of them would. For some reason I thought both would.
Yeah, Cooper is the only transfer I’ve seen the RS year talked about. However, Billy is saying that the decision to RS Cooper won’t be made till the Fall after they see how he develops through summer practice and weight training.

My bet is we’d lose the JUCO redshirt but I’m just spit balling.
Who are you referring to? The only JUCO transfer that they have talked about RS’ing is Cooper; but he just joined the team in June. There is no way that Wade turns around and immediately kicks him off the team or revokes his scholarship without cause. Would be a huge PR disaster and would kill just about all future JUCO recruiting for them as no coach would steer their players to LSU.

I don’t see him processing Sims after summer workouts. That would be even worse. Also as previously noted, the staff is high on Rachal and Rachal’s Twitter is still all LSU.
I’d think Cooper would be out as bad as that is.
Unless Hyatt walks on year one then put on a scholarship after.

Literally 0% chance of that happening. No signee is getting processed 1 month into his stay.

Wade said Cooper came in a little under 200 lbs and he’s almost 6’10. That’s a big reason to redshirt him but the other guy is a guard and Tremont Waters can excel at his size I don’t think you have too much to worry about when looking at weight for guards.

I don’t see it either. I just don’t see Sims it Rachal so I’m at a lost.

Please walk me through this line of thinking? While I agree Wade would take a PR hit for processing Sims without cause, it would not nearly be the level of negative impact as if he turned around and pulled a scholarship from a JUCO player that just transferred here a month ago and is considered a raw product with huge upside.
In the former situation, he just comes off looking like a bit of a heartless person for pulling a scholarship from an LSU legacy (Sims) in favor of adding more talent. In the latter situation you likely get black balled by every JUCO program from ever being able to recruit their players again. So again tell me which has the greater impact.
And again, I’m not advocating for it to be Sims or Rachal to get processed. It is all just wild speculation and anyone’s guess at this point.

Both guys were suspended multiple times. I like Rachal a lot but I honestly don’t see how either is on the team still. They must really bust their arse in practice because their off the court behavior hurt us last year. Remember the game we played with only 2 post players?

He’s had all year to process Sims and Rachal. Assuming it’s neither of those, who else would it be?
Of those, I guess Rachal would go... but if neither Rachael or Sims who else could it possibly be?

Well well well... when did the Hyatt news get more serious?...

Posted on 7/23/18 at 7:16 pm to GeorgeTheGreek
Literally the only returner that’s not projected to play 20+ minutes is Edwards and I can’t imagine him wanting to trade one of our few shooters for a sit out guy. Unless he just doesn’t want to risk getting passed up and not playing much his senior year.
Posted on 7/23/18 at 7:20 pm to GeorgeTheGreek
Holy grammar. This might be about something else, who knows, but I would have liked to see him stick around. One of the few La guys still on roster and he had a ton of potential just from his athleticism and hustle

True; but before this situation, why would he have processed them? There was no need to before as they represented quality depth and a future “program” type guy in Rachal. But now you have a 4 star top 150 type 2019 prospect who just decided to reclassify and become eligible for 2018. If you are that high on the guy (and indications are that the staff is), then you sort out the numbers and figure out where to make room for him. Therefore, your attention naturally turns to the two players that both behaviorally and talent wise maybe don’t measure up to be one of the possible choices for needed attrition.
I for one couldn’t really care less if it was Sims that got the axe, as he drove me up a wall more times than not with some of his bone headed plays last year and I think he has reached his ceiling. Although I’ll admit he did start to become more of a contributor towards end of season once he understood his role better. But I would like to see Rachal stay as I think he still has a lot of room for growth and seems to have a good work ethic to him.
But again, this is all speculation and I don’t think anyone has a good idea on who it will be. And that’s even if it becomes a necessity. Hyatt hasn’t committed to us yet.

If it does end up being Rachal to get processed (which more signs seem to point to him than others), then Wade is likely to use as a reason whatever it was that got Rachal suspended for NIT tournament. I don’t think we still have ever heard what that reason was.
Posted on 7/23/18 at 7:56 pm to TigerLaw40
None of the newcomers are going to get processed. Cooper certainly isn’t. We only have 3 kids taller than 6-6 or 6-7, and he is one of them. He may end up playing some minutes this year.
Rachal and Sims are the possibles imo. Both have had off the court issues.
I prefer keeping Rachal if he can stay clean off the court.
No doubt in my mind Wade makes best decision for program. I’m not sweating it.

No doubt. Rachal > Sims
As for the tweet, who knows if that’s LSU related or not.

Sims could pay his own way, either directly or through the many old school Dale Brown sources.
Dale has given money for many years to his former players and their kids for college.
So, perhaps Wade coverts to walk-on.
Or someone realizes over summer workouts that their playing time will be limited.

I do not know much about him, but I’d like to know what kind of game he has if anyone does. I know we offered him and wanted him for a little while

I think Wade said he would have been comfortable to start him this year if Waters left. It might have been Embody that said that but those words are from inside the program.
I don’t know about start but he for sure said that Kingsby would play a lot if Waters went pro.
