I know here in Alabama the state is split North versus South in the championship game. In Louisiana is it the same thing?

Or can to high schools play each other in the championship game that are located close by?

yes teams next to each other in the same district can play in the championship as long as they are on opposite sides of the bracket.

It is not split hence West Monroe vs Zachary. It’s split by public and private

I remember one of the state championship games in the early 80’s had Southern Lab versus UHIGH and they were 1 and 2 in the same district.

West Monroe played Captain Shreve and Ruston in the playoffs, so no it isn't north vs south, but 32 teams put in brackets based on power points.

Does Louisiana call it public and Private schools ?

I'm sure they play in different tournaments?

the power and points is only in the last 20 years or so. It used to be 1/2 in respective districts if I remember right. Maybe they went to 3. The same year that Southern Lab ans UHIGH played in the finals, the third place team didn’t make the playoffs. That team was 5-5 with a loss to 2 upper class teams and a very close loss to UHIGH. UHIGH had Brian Kinchen at running back and they won late with 2 TDs.
Southern lab won it that year. My son was at UHIGH then.
