You're missing the point. As it stands now we'll prettymuch just have Brum and Clapp behind our starters in 2015, and that's if no one goes pro. That's as thin as we've been since I've been keeping up, and is a really big concern. True freshmen should never be counted as depth on the OL. Getting two more guys this class would have gone a long way, but hopefully it pays off next year when Grimes can point to the holes in the depth chart and our starters stay healthy.

We'll be alright if we can avoid injury - we look less deep on paper than we did in years past, but in years past injury hit us pretty hard on the lines anyway.

Granted that we can't count on avoiding injury and we'll be in trouble if we don't avoid it, but the ceiling isn't as low as you might think

How am I delusional and don't you think grimes is going to sell every 2015 lineman about coming to Lsu to compete for immediate playing time ... Why do you think teuhema ks committing to us?

Y'all are ridiculous if you don't think 13 scholarship offensive lineman is good depth ..

[quote]Good thing we are about to add a 5* OL for next year, and maybe his 4* cousin/quote]

Too late. Those guys won't be ready in time.

Needing to sign 6, 7 offensive linemen in a class is just not a position I would like LSU to be in

Your point is well taken. I was off on the math in my original post by 2 players.

My concern is if Vadal and Hawkins decide to turn pro, then we are down to 7 scholarship linemen. Hopefully, Kelly will sign with LSU tomorrow.

Next year! Man, you don't recruit for next year. You recruit for two or three years down the road. The OP is right, the sky is falling on the oline. We need to right that quickly. The Grimes hire was just in time.

Which makes Cam Robinson's decision even more puzzling.
Lets not mention this name again on here, please. He reads this board and revels in Tiger fans being upset that he left.

Dude... No one is worried about next season, we're worried about the one after that when 6 leave in a single year out of those 13 and are replaced by kids who just graduated highschool.

We have to hope 2 of them are smart enough to stay. But you never know Turner left, but collins stayed.

Exactly, you have to plan like every kid is here for three years, period. If they stay then that's just icing.

We will sign 4-5 very highly touted offensive lineman next year and i don't think we will ever have depth issues

Mile and lsu wouldn't let Edinburg walk if they thought we had depth issues

Stud had Kelly lined up. We lost ground on Kelly after Stud left

You're kidding, right? Stud didn't even start recruiting Kelly until December. Stud didn't have shite lined up.

You are misinformed.

And nobody started recruiting Kelly until December. He was a late bloomer.

If you honestly believe that Kelly would have chosen LSU over UF if Stud were here, I don't know what to tell you. Kelly to LSU only started picking up steam well after Stud was let go. It appears now that the only way LSU would have nabbed Kelly was if UF or FSU didn't offer. Kelly to UF has nothing to do with Stud and everything to do with Kelly's mom.

Even if Kelly was "lined up" as you say, the fact that Stud was putting all his eggs into one late bloomer who was out the door the moment the state schools came calling is pitiful and indefensible.

Ok. I'm not arguing with you because you are really just wrong on several points.

Glad we got Grimes. And Stud certainly had his shame of blame for lack of success on the recruiting trail this year. But he had his moments, Pocic has a chance to be an All SEC LT, and Kelly was Studs guy.

Obviously, Kelly will make his own choice--but I know players have a pretty good idea of every school's depth chart these days. Seems like the point about LSU's OL depth concerns and the large # of OL commits to the Gators along with the current status of the two programs should be persuasive arguments to get him to sign with the Tigers. This has been such a wacky recruiting year as it seems like the usual sensible arguments don't work.
