Randle is better than Landry.

If Rasco is the top DE in the country and Johnson the top DT, then they are better be better. I doubt Landry will be the top WR in the country bc he doesn't have the size/speed.

I don't think so...bigger, yes

(ear muffs dmitch)

I'm so confident in it that I wouldn't even hesitate to take Landry over Randle, and that's not a knock on Randle. JL is just a natural at the position

agree on the size part...could hurt him. But his skills are special...they're not good, they're special. ..and I don't think speed will be an issue

everyone seems to be so jubiliant about the 2011 class. sure it is a good one but is it that much better than the 2009 class. lets take a look.

10 rivals rankings 09 10 class

randle #2 collins
jackson #17 rasco
davenport #25 landry
faulk #47 johnson
ford # 59 hilliard
lacy # 116 hill
sentmore #126 slyvie
mingo # 155 lewis
downs #161 ????

Is 2011 really that much better than 2009?

2009 was a banner year. No doubt about it. 2011 is equal to 2009 at worst. The special thing about these two years is that they are so close together. As the 2009 players are becoming Seniors and juniors, the 2011 class will have enough time in the system to give us a good mix of older and younger talent. It will be as good of a pool of talent that LSU has ever seen. If we can go OOS and sign a stud LB or two and have a solid kicking game, the sky is the limit.

hilliard only at 6 and landry at 4. lewis at 10. this is the sickest class ever.

i do think collins is no doubt 1, but they'll be a lot of shake up in between 2 and 8. I'd expect hilliard to be rated ahead of hill, but both to be in the top 8. i think landry 4 is reasonable. i think lewis should be 8.

i'd say

collins
rasco
hilliard
johnson
landry
hill
lewis
sylve

top 8

more importantly, i think we sign all 8.

Everything you're saying about Landry, you can say the same about Randle but he's bigger and faster. This is pointless to argue b/c they'll both be at LSU

everything you can measure on paper says Randle is the better prospect...size, speed, big hands, etc.

I just happen to see more of the It factor when I watch Landry play

Just my opinion

I'm not demeaning either in this debate. I agree they'll both be good ones in purple and gold

Dont see how you can rate Landry above Randle at this point. Two different WRs both with amazing skillsets but one has much better size. Both are 5 star worthy though, imo.

It will hurt his ranking significantly though whether you like to recognize it or not.

A smaller receiver without blazing speed is hard/almost impossible to be a 5 star.

I do think he will be in the 50-60 range which is nothing to bat an eye at.

i think he'll (landry) be comparable to trovon's ranking. we'll keep an eye on where he ends up.

more interested in seeing who we go after at QB in 2011. stevie douglas pimps himself up on tigerbait, but i wonder if we have a shot at any of those east coast dudes...williams, lemay, etc.

Lewis will be the best WR in the state when it's all said and done.

He was slower as a senior at LSU than he was as a freshman. The bulk hurt his speed. He could fly though.

he's better than Reed right now, so he should be ranked much higher.

It's impressive how precocious and polished Landry has been. Like I said, on paper you could easily project Randle as the better prospect.

But when he was an underclassman at Bastrop he didn't have the impact Landry had at 115 or 16 years old. Yes, Bastrop had better players to use...but Benton was the man at Bastrop and easily their best WR back then.

Landry was the best player on the entire field last year as a Soph in most of Lutcher's games

a bit early, but hahnville will have a qb this year with LSU ties. auburn ties too unfortunately. Brian Ensminger, nephew of former tiger Steve. it will be his first year as the outright starter. big arm, good size kid. he'll be a 2011 recruit. will be starting from way behind compared to these other recruits, but could catch some national attention this year if they make a strong run.
