5 Alabama 26 1 15 9 3.62 2,308
6 LSU 29 1 15 13 3.59 2,255
anyone else see a math error here?

It doesn't add up does it? We have 29 commits with an avg star of 3.59 and they have 26 with a 3.62 avg. How that equates to them being up 53 points is beyond me.

Let 'er rip, but I ain't too excited. I never do get excited over a recruiting class.
Let's revisit in 3 years.
The '06 class proved to be pretty dang bad, right? Many still not on the team, or was that a different year?

no, no it doesn't
Alabama 26 1 15 9
um 1+15+9 = 25

They have a 2* recruit... That only shows 5*-3*
The math does add up.

3.714 points for each of 14 NC's.
Bronze statues of coaches trump with tradition any NC's your school may have won.

it means Saban signed a two star player.
1 15 9 does not equal 26, therefore another player is a two star.

the points are not based on 4 star.
They are based on 6.0 5.9 and 5.8.
same with 3 star. they use 5.7 5.6 and 5.5
Happy day. Not to worry.
Coach them up.

so only signing 26 recruits with 1 5*, 15 4*, 9 3*, and 1 2* is somehow better than signing 29 recruits with equal numbers of 5* and 4* recruits, and 4 more 3* recruits while signing no 2* recruits????
I suppose they are banking that Bama will sign 2 more 3* and at least 1 more 4* recruit, so obviously they should be ranked above LSU????

1. Rivals only counts the best 22, so 29 are not going to be counted.
2. The various players are not rated 4 or 5. They are rated 6.1, or 6.0 or 5.9 or 5.8.
LSU has fewer 5.9 than Alabama. Hence, some of Bama's 4 stars are thought to be better than LSU's.

I assume the following is applicable.
quote:
NOTE: Use only a team's top 20 recruits when calculating.
Team Points = H * ( n / ( n + m ) ) + L * ( m / ( n + m ) )
H = potential High score = 250 for every five-star, 140 for every four-star, 75 for every three-star, 20 for every two-star and 10 for every one-star
L = potential Low score = 18 for every five-star, 12 for every four-star, 8 for every three-star, 3 for every two-star and 1 for every one-star
m = a constant (by working backwards, it appeared they used 50 as their constant last year)
n = the sum of the following Bonus Points
Bonus Points ------------
• 10 points for every commit ranked 1 to 10 in the Rivals 100, nine points for every commit ranked 11 to 20, eight points for every commit ranked 21 to 30, and so on down to one point for every commit ranked 91-100.
• 10 points for every commit ranked 1 to 10 in the Rivals Juco 100 or the Rivals Prep 100, nine points for every commit ranked 11 to 20, eight points for every commit ranked 21 to 30, seven points for every commit ranked 31 to 40, and six points every commit ranked 41-50 on those two lists. Evaluate only the top 50 on these two lists, not the entire 100.
• 24 points for every commit that is the Number 1 player at an official Rivals Position Ranking.
• 18 points for every commit that is number two, three, four, or five at an official Rivals Position Ranking.
• 8 points for every commit that is number six through number "X" at an official Rivals Position Ranking. Each position has a different cutoff point ("X"). Example: For kickers, add 8 to n if a commit is ranked from 6 through 10, but at wide receiver add 8 to n if a commit is ranked from 6 through 50.
• Add to n is the amount over 3.00 for the average stars for the entire class, times 100. For example, if your class is an average 3.72 stars, we add 72 to your n.
