A lot of people say this without realizing there is an age cutoff difference between LL and travel ball. A lot of the top 12 year old kids in travel ball are ineligible for 12 year old LL in the same year. Travel cutoff date is May 1, where LL is September 1. So LL does not have the kids born between May 1-august 31.

Amazing that every kid on East Bank attended a Catholic school. It’s was an all-star travel team.

This isn't really disputing your comment about it being a travel team, but I was unaware that Lurcher High is a Catholic school.

JPRD joined GNO in little league this year and they made the regional finals.

Only Westbank of Jefferson Parish, right? I believe it included parts of Nola and Chalmette area but not Eastbank of Jefferson Parish. JPRD Eastbank still plays Dixie. It would be very interesting if JPRD Eastbank went to Little League.

That’s why you seperate skill level. Our Major little league division have 3-5 teams. These are the kids chosen to play in travel all stars. Most little leagues do this so they can choose the best 12. AP has a minor and major division. They are two seperate leagues. You have to try out to be on majors.

I’ve never seen it done that way around Houston. Usually Minors and Majors cover different age ranges and have different rules (ie no dropped 3rd in Minors). If you are young enough to play Minors, you can play up into Majors if you are good enough, but they aren’t going to tell a kid who has aged out of Minors that he can’t play Majors because he isn’t good enough. It’s pretty crazy to do it the way you describe. The age range for Minors must be massive unless they are just pushing out the 11 and 12u kids who don’t make the Majors cut.

All but 1 out of 13 play in a Private School. 11/13 are in Catholic school league. They had kids from Lutcher to Northshore. Typical Eastbank crap - cheat. I played in it, I know.

They also use wayyyy different bats.

One of advantages of LL. The trampoline effect of USA bats is much closer to BBCOR than USSSA bats. Some of those select kids will be in for a surprise when they get to high school if they have only ever used USSSA.

We split age divisions 9/10/11/12 and have minors and majors in all 4.

Not sure. I just heard a lot of politics were involved that involved threats.

I'm pretty sure it was just open to Westbank JPRD. If they open that up to Eastbank JPRD, politics will still be involved...and a lot of feelings will still be hurt...but that team will be in Williamsport more often than not and winning a bunch. Girard, 1 single playground in JPRD Eastbank pretty much walked right through the Dixie World Series. Imagine what that, plus other Eastbank playgrounds and Westbank playgrounds, would do in Little League.

Ascension will be tough for years to come. Won 9u-10u-11u state. 11 I’m not sure lost in years. The next year 12u team.

How so? My oldest isn’t to BBCOR yet, but my understanding is that they are designed to be dead like the USA bats. Both are supposed to be similar to wood.

That’s wild. I’ve been around LL (and Dixie) for a long time, and I’ve never heard of that setup. I guess if you have the numbers to make it work, it does a decent job of getting kids in a position to get the best reps for their developmental level.

Had 9 9 year old teams and 8 10 year old. Huge numbers.
