He will have a chance to right the ship on national TV again, but Newman's schedule doesn't do much to put him up against stiff competition. He has to prove that later in the playoffs.

Just so happens that it came against the best he has faced this year. They made him look very average. It's easy to inflate stats and look great against garbage teams.

I was texting a few huge Texas fans during the game last night and they were all praying that he goes to Georgia.

So, just because Riley would be at LSU Arch would be good sitting behind Howard and Nussmeier? Your logic is stupid.

That's how it always is. I remember Christian McCaffrey's brother being a highly rated and he did almost nothing in college. Hell, he ended up transferring to where his dad coaches, as a 5th year senior.

I never thought he was worthy of the hype. I mean the hype is ridiculous. This is that Trevor Lawrence type hype and I don't see it at all. He'll likely be good, but nowhere near the hype he's getting.

Riley's days of producing Heisman winning QBs will be over as soon as OU enters the SEC. Why? Because he won't be able to run up the score against second-rate competition anymore in the SEC to pad his QB's numbers as he was able to do in the second-rate Big 12 conference. Those days will be over.
That's not how this works. Despite having a losing record vs these teams, they put up numbers

2017 vs
12-2, Ohio St win 31-16 490 yards 6.8 ypp
13-2, UGA loss 48-54 531 yards 6.56 ypp
TCU finished 19th in scoring defense and Oklahoma beat em twice putting up 38 and 41 points respectively

2018 vs
14-1, Bama loss 34-45 471 yards 6.8 ypp

2020 vs
8-4 UF, win 55-20 684 yards 10.5 ypp (yes I know Florida's defense sucked, but they put up more points and more yards than any other team Florida played that year (aka, nothing but SEC teams)

Hell even with LSU in 2019 they averaged 5.2 yards per play and scored 28.

So they've played all the top SEC teams, and Ohio St, and scored on all of them. Safe to say they will do perfectly fine in the SEC.

no, it doesn't at all, actually...

and hard pass on Riley... he looses games he should win, every single year, which costs Oklahoma chances at the playoffs more often than not...

You do realize he’s been in 3 of 4 CFB playoffs as a coach, right

Eh. Idk if id say he can recruit or develop qbs. The heisman winners he had started elsewhere. And Murray is looking like the only one that’s going to stick.

A manning is not coming to LSU....
Big Archie would kill them all.
They say the right things but They don't do LSU
I don't have a problem with it.
They are good ambassadors for LA and NOLA ...and we need good ambassadors

Ding ding you couldn’t be more right. He hasn’t played well recently either. Howard is the real deal. Just to show what these recruiting outlets know.

He doesn't need to operate a defense as long as he makes homerun hires for DC. It's better to constantly hire DCs than constantly needing to hire OCs. Modern NCAA is all about offense. Also, Riley is young and still has a big coaching ceiling to improve. He's already a great coach and recruiter as well as developer.

OU is a program with high prestige maybe more than LSU from a history standpoint. That said, there's a reason they're the joke of NCAA for the past 20+ years. They can't get over the hump because they have to solely rely on national talent. They're good at recruiting it but not good enough to get all the elite talent they need. Riley would have Louisiana to himself and have one of the highest per capita talent wise states available.

Do I think he's coming here? No. Sure is nice to dream though. Pretty ignorant statement from you to think he can't hack it in the SEC because he's not a defensive minded coach.

We'd be in Tiger Heaven if we stole this dude from OU. We'd have a young guy who maybe could be here for many years depending on his feelings on NFL, LSU recruits itself so he'd probably take it to the next level since he's already a great national recruiter, we'd never have to worry about offense/QB problems, etc.

Maybe? They aren’t even in the same conversation from a historical perspective.

There is a 0% chance that Riley would leave OU for LSU. OU has the best AD in the country and a President and administration who fully back the football program. The big advantage LSU has over OU - being in the SEC - will be gone shortly.

There are no impending or potential violations lurking at OU. There is no lack of talent at OU (except in the back end of our damn defense!) Riley has unfinished business at OU.

I don’t mean any of this as a slight to LSU, but Riley just isn’t going to happen.
