Let's try to come to a consensus on something. It could give us clarity on jt Daniels

OK, I've said something about this once before. About 3-5 weeks ago, coach o was giving an interview to otb.actually,it may have been on the other guys show.its called upon further review, I think ,that's what it's called.

Anyway, In the interview, coach o is asked about transfers and the transfer portal system. As coach o was about to stop talking, he was kind of cut off quick by the interviewer . So he's cut off, and the guy says, "you're not a very big fan of the portal, are you coach?"

So coach o answers with, no I'm not , he goes on with , now I'm OK with grad transfers .i just don't think you should be able to transfer without graduating first. Youve got to stick it out, look at our country now, we're sticking it out. Players should stay and stick it out too, with the rest of us.

I didn't quote it cuz I'm going off memory. It was something very similar to what I wrote, so just trust me or try to find it on YouTube. I cant find it now .

The question is, do y'all think coach o would take a transfer that hasn't graduated yet? Like the qb from uscw, jt Daniels?

If we can all agree that coach o would or wouldn't take any non grad transfers ,after his interview, then we can pretty much decide on wether or not to eliminate Daniels.

I mean, he knows that interview is out there to be heard by anyone, but this was before Daniels announced his plans to transfer.

I just don't know how serious he is with that philosophy. Ive said and thought he wouldn't take a qb period cuz we have one and he's not coming for a backup role. I'd say that there feelings on Brennan are enough to say no to jt anyway, but the interview is just as big of a reason to not take jt.

Put both reasons together and you can go ahead and forget about jt Daniels coming to Lsu.

He just said that he wasn't a fan of the portal and would rather players stick it out. Didn't say he wouldn't take a player from the portal though. He seems to live in reality and the reality is that the portal exists whether he is a fan of it or not. Pretty sure he would use the portal to take a player if he thought said player would help the team win games.

Sorry it's so long, I just thought it was worth a discussion.

Just want to know if y'all think coach o would remember what he said in that interview and realize it may look bad if he takes a non grad transfer .

He would be going against what he believes in, y'all know what I mean?

I'm just saying that it would be really soon after his comments if he took one..

Moss was under coach o? I guess he was now that I think bout it. That was before his comments though.

We're not getting jt anyway, so it don't matter.. If u put the pieces together with interviews about Myles and other signs, i just can't see it happening.

The other question is does JT Daniels actually wanna come here? I know that we just had Burrow but it’s on the other side of the country, Myles is probably starting, he has no spring practice, Myles could stay 2 Years and Has our coaching staff actually been in conversation much or at all or is it just National Media speculation because from what I can tell we like Brennan a lot.

I don’t know how much mutual interest there is between Daniels and LSU, but he would sure relieve a great deal of my anxiety for this coming season.
1) We have no idea how durable Brennan may be in the SEC.
2) We have two backups, and both are true freshmen

Daniels started at USC as a true freshman (actually started college a year early after graduating in only 3 years). He should have still been a senior in high school. His upside is huge.

Granted, is he expecting a school to hand him a starring role right away? And how healthy is he?

Correct me if i'm wrong here, but didn't O quit on LSU when he was a player. It seems a bit hypocritical of him to expect the same of other players.

Its laughable that some think Brennan is good enough for Coach O to say no thanks to Daniels.

Daniels would be for depth this year, he wouldnt be coming in beating out Brennan in a matter of weeks. Now obviously Daniels wants to start, so seems unlikely he would want to choose here knowing the coaches believe in Brennan in so much and believe he is ready with his size, knowledge of the offense, chemistry with the players and leadership role he's taken over.

Fact is Daniels might get 3-4 weeks of practice before the first game if he came here, maybe zero summer workouts with the players. I think it would be a smart move to add Daniels for depth since we have true freshmen backing up Myles, but again, seems like a hard sell to Daniels if you're being realistic.

Lots o’ questions, OP.

Just because O does not “like” the portal, does not mean that he will not use it.

IF Daniels thinks he is a starter wherever he goes...he ain’t coming here.

IF IF Daniels is willing to come in and sit/learn, especially because of the lack of summer practice, then LSU is an option....at best.

Coach stated his opinion, but he will stay play by the rules if it benefits the school.

Ask yourself if we would turn down Trevor Lawrence, Sam Howell, Kayvon Thibodeaux, or any other all-American caliber underclassmen if they wanted to transfer to LSU. No matter what O thinks about the portal, the answer is "hell no!" You do what's best for the team.

But at the same time, He would be walking into that same situation mostly everywhere unless a teams starting quarterback is just pitiful. And those are probably the schools not worth going to. After seeing what Joe did, the coaches could sell him on sitting one year behind Brennan (goes early) and you can do the same thing.

Would you have traded Burrow, for Lawrence, or any of the other starting QBs around, prior to last season?
When Burrow was predicting that we would score 40-50 pts a game bet you scoffed.

Orgeron would be chasing Daniels and others if he didn't know Brennan was capable.
Orgeron knows!

I think at this point we arent really looking at him anymore with only 1 spot available personally (took 2 transfers now).

Our situation isnt the toughest to win a job in for sure but there's certainly easier situations he could walk into as well, a number of new coaches at new schools, etc...

You completely missed my point. I'm not even talking about Daniels. My post was about the portal in general. You don't turn down talent that will improve your team just because you think the portal is a bad idea. Not sure why you brought up Burrows in reference to what I said. We're talking 2020.

Doesn’t JT have to sit a year if transferring? Isn’t this a rule If yet to graduate?
