Jevonte Domond is en route to Baton Rouge.

Domond, a four-star junior college offensive tackle from Arizona who signed with LSU earlier this summer, graduated from Glendale Community College and is set to arrive Friday.

He’ll report with other members of the team Sunday. Preseason camp begins Monday.

Domond, 6-foot-6, 300-pounder, is listed as the No. 1 junior college player in Arizona and the 10th-best junior college offensive tackle in the nation, according to 24/7 Sports.

He originally committed to LSU as part of the 2015 class but that plan changed when LSU coaches studied his transcript, Domond said.

“I didn’t know I had the credits to graduate this year,” Domond said. “(Offensive line) coach (Jeff) Grimes and LSU’s staff looked at my transcripts and told me I could graduate this summer if I took a couple of classes.”

Domond took three classes over the summer and received his associate degree last week, he said.

We owe this to Jeff Grimes. Not only did he hit the trail and sign two players who will very possibly be immediate contributors...

You think he's going to supplant Collins or Hawkins for PT? No way.
Maybe in 2nd string relief but not starting. It will be awesome to have him in the system and learning for next year though when we'll need quite a few guys to step up.

I'm assuming he meant as depth and not starting rotation....at least I hope not. Probably get some decent PT against the cupcakes.

He can probably provide solid back up this year if he's not worn out from his summer school classes.

No, I didn't mean starting. I meant in the rotation to get play time in games we put away early. He'll come in and be sitting right behind Hawkins IMO.
