From some of Avery Johnson's quotes that have been coming out from his convo with LM, it sounds like Randle will be going pro after this year

I'd say the same thing if I was trying to get AJ to come to LSU. Miles also thinks JJ is his best QB. He's probably expecting a huge year from JJ and Randle. I hope he's right, but I see a much bigger year for RR if he stays and plays with Mett who is a much better passer.

1997

Without looking it up I'd say Richard Smith was better than all 3 of those listed.

You may be right, and I hope you are, but I honestly could see RR going pro after this year. I would guess that probably 65% of our passing plays will be directed his way this year

Randle was the #1 receiver and #3 overall player his senior year. I don't think the others were that highly regarded. Doucet was up there, but not #3.

Edited: Randle was #2 actually and Doucet was #3.

Production on the field in high school and college. Wasn't he a 4 year starter at Arkansas? I'm sure he killed them statistically in high school. Brock Berlin was his QB.

in high school maybe, but i dont remember him being very good at ARK

Doucet and Clayton both played QB their SR year

Doucet was the top ranked WR in the nation still, and Clayton was pretty much a top 10-15 player in the nation as a SR.

as for Buster Davis, he had 31 combine TDs his JR and SR year in HS and a 1600 yard season as a SR. Along with a pretty nice career at LSU. Without looking at the #'s id guess he out produced Smith in college. In fact i would say all 3 did without looking. I could be wrong

Same for Randle. In fact, that is probably the best comparison except Doucet's college QB was literally infinitely better than Randle's.

These are Smith's 4 years at ARK

37.346.1
38.383.5
34.582.4
30.573.7

139. 1884. 17

Doucet- 160. 1943. 20 TD

Davis- 141. 2107. 7TDs (in 3 years basically)

Clayton- 182. 2582. 21 TD (in 3 years)

true, but as a Jr at Bastrop he had a decent season, but nothing off the charts statistically. And they threw the ball a good bit.

Wow I thought he'd be in that 20 range with Doucet and Clayton.

Doucet would have got to play WR with a D-1 QB his senior year had he taken our scholly.

Doucet and Bowe stole all his TDs

i remember it as a running joke that he had trouble finding the endzone. Pretty weird considering his 15YPC average over 3 years

Randle was #1 WR and #2 overall. The comparison is staggeringly close.

he's not going anywhere even if he wanted to, besides he has not done anything yet to even be talking about coming out...
