May want to check that 40 time. I recall Armstead ran close to a 4.6 40, which was/is a record for offensive linemen.

No i was thinking about terron Armstead before i even made the post because he was very athletic for being an OT, so my mind didn't even see Arik for some reason. Sorry the confusion.

Saints fan here, so that's why he came to mind when seeing his recruiting profile.

Well it is a sports forum, it is highly likely some are on multiple psychotropic medications at any given moment.

He wants to play DL but might need to take one for the team in Y1. We'll see if he's a me guy or a team player i guess.

If they made promises to him that he's going to be playing DT and then go back on that then that's on the coaching staff, not him. And that's the type of thing that hurts a recruiter's reputation.

I guess seeing Lamar listed as an athlete made me wonder, but I figured he would play the 5 tech. I just wanted to see why they had him listed as such. His tape playing OT is incredible.

That needs a culture shift, elite NFL tackles have long careers and get PAID. Protecting the blind side of the most important position is extremely important with the type of athletes that are rushing the QB in todays game.

Look, in high school I played both OG and DT. Lamar’s probably a little better than I was.

He can do it.

I would like to see him in a Marquise Hill type role at DE. Brown has speed and is agile.

I'd just like to mention Arik Gilbert in this thread to confuse more people.

This thread went off the rails of confusion

He wants to play DL. He's the #1 player in America. He'll start his career at the position where he wants to start it.

Who knows what happens down the road? I agree he could end up being an all-world OT based solely on his skillset/size, but that doesn't always translate to being a success at the position.

Definitely! He has that body type. Will play a great 5 tech but he is big enough to bang inside on certain alignments.

So you expect the #1 player in America to play OL his first year then move to DL the remaining years?

Marcus Spears deserves some recognition in this thread.

He was a very similar size, about 6’4 285 lbs coming out of Southern Lab. He was considered the top Tight End in the nation, one of the best D-linemen, as well as a blue chip basketball recruit.

His earliest action was as a blocking TE at the beginning of his freshman season. He even had a couple of receptions in the middle of the season. By the end of the season he was getting snaps as a rotational DE in SEC play.

Jack Hunt was also a young WR on that 2001 team. Both Hunt and Spears ended their careers with more interceptions than receptions.

Spears and Brown are similar body types, although i imagine spears was probably lighter at this point of his high school career.

Lamar should be the first CF player who is a lineman to go both ways. He would have a 30-30 about him in 15 years.

I don't know what they will do with him but I'm sure that OP will remember you if coaches ask him to play a little OT.
