Vol61, here's what you need to think seriously about...
I have never had a problem with UT, and LSU fans in general have no reason to dislike UT. The success of UT is generally good for LSU since you play Bama and UF. Yet somehow, the good fans of LSU have taken a serious dislike to UT, and it isn't because we are afraid of you. Some might say it's because your coach (and I use that term loosely) has engaged in ethically questionable recruiting tactics. But no, the real reason is that the UT fans have become pompous windbags that insist on telling us all about how their 5-7 team will in short order be dominating the SEC. You guys have become worse than the gumps. Is this really how you want to be perceived? As being more retarded than Bammers?

Believe me when I say that it is LSU's best interest for Vols not to suck and but don't try to sell carzy to us. We have zero hope that Vols won't suck anytime soon.

Frank Wilson and Ogre will not get but one (MAYBE two) kids from LA......book that!
LSU can't sign EVERY player from Louisiana...but we are pretty good at getting some from other states.
UT will continue to struggle because Bammer is taking some of there territory and Kiffin will continue to embarrass the Vol Nation.......book it.

I apologize if I missed this, but has Vol61 or anyone else provided a link to the statement attributed to Orgeron that he was "overed" 900k by LSU?
Seems that this contention has fostered much of this thread and I 've never seen any written indication that even Orgeron has made this claim.

This is the only site I visit other than my own team's....it is the best one IMO (other than ours of course). I have finally felt compelled to stop just trolling and actually post.
I just don't understand the continued discussion of how we allocated our coaches salaries? Lane Kiffin is unproven and should not be paid like the Miles and Sabans. And the coaching tree of Monte Kiffin can be debated but he is more than deserving of his salary.
Revenue from our athletic department funds a huge amount of our academic progarms and UT simply distributed the pool of money differently than most teams. We needed to augment our rookie head coach with good support and paid them accordingly. The allocation will change over time as Lane proves himself and Monte retires. Once our head coach gets paid $3.7 to put him in the same company as Miles and Saban and we no longer need the same level of experienced assistants, then maybe we can stop rehashing our coaches' salaries?
As for Orgeron, LSU countered our offer but I don't believe LSU offered him $900,000. Coach O grew up an LSU fan and that kind of money would have been hard to turn down. But we both wanted the guy and I am glad we got him. He will make recruiting battles more interesting in LA and I look forward to seeing how they play out on this site.

a good and reasonable post...
The 900k rumor is false...600k was the final offer...Miles gave O everything he wanted via the Agents, that is why the press ran the article that O was coming to LSU.. and yes, most of us wanted him pretty badly, because he can recruit like no other...But Miles is not exactly hurting on the recruiting trail..
anyways, welcome to TD...pretty sure UT is the pick today
