This kid showed up to our July camp and looked like a fresh off the boat African playing football for the first time. Absolute ducks and like a shot put was how his throws and motion where described to me. Lowell Narcisse will flip to LSU in the near future. Thompson is better off playing basketball or switching to wideout.

You do know prior to Prescott his QB Tyler Russell set passing records at Miss St right? The only reason Dak took over for Russell was because of 1) injury and 2) Dak was that dual threat that he was looking for.
But like I said, we have had problems with swaying QBs them from other teams. Until it happens and a QB is swayed from another school and sticlks to LSU, then I won't have faith of it happening.
Mullen also had Tyson Lee and Chris Relf in his offense, how'd they do?. In fact, it took Russell until his junior year to have the job out right. He was unseated by Dak his Senior year after a concussion and was not given the spot back until Dak got hurt. In other words, during his last and most important year for his pro playing prospects, Mullen benched his record performer hurting his pro chances. Regardless, there are a number of important other factors that will have to play out before 2017 signing day that can determine where Thompson signs.

Well you must have never seen him play? No way he plays qb at State. Damian Williams is better than him and he hasn't touched the field.

I thought he turned down the Florida job last year
No. Foley (Florida's AD) badmouthing him is the reason he hasn't landed a better job yet. Foley trashes him to anyone who will listen.
There's apparently some pretty bad blood between the two from when Mullen was at UF.

Mullen started Relf over Wilson. Wilson had to wait until Relf graduated to earn the starting job. Currently, the apparent heir to Dak is a freshman. Thompson is looking at waiting until his 3rd year if Dak's replacement works out. How Dak's replacement performs in 2016 will weigh heavily on Thompson's signature.
Who is Wilson, do you mean Russell? No, here's what happened
Relf had a pretty nice 1st year in 2010 starting as a Jr (59% 1780 yards 8.2 ypa 12 TDs 6 ints 700 rush yards 5 TDs), but then was replaced as starter mid year by sophomore Tyler Russell in 2011. Relf split reps with Russell but for some reason Relf started and played the entire 2 games of the season (I'm guessing injury to Russell). Mullen also set the single season passing TD record (as a team) in 2011
.
Anyway in 2012 Russell set passing records at Miss St. Then in 2013, Dak got in for Russell because of injury and again a 2 QB system worked pretty damn good. Then Tyler Russell ended his career with another injury. Since then it has been then Dak show.

The WR corp you mentioned will be gone by 2017.
Yeah, but you asked what they would do without Dak, and next year they are loaded.
I don't know why you think they can't get more WRs and coach them up. Do you know that Fred Ross is the only 4 star WR on that field now? Do you know that most of the other WRs were WAY, and I mean WAY, down the totem as WR recruits, Wilson was a basketball player until his senior year of high school. He wasn't even a top 1000 recruit.
None of these guys they have now were playing when Russell threw for 2900 yards and 24 TDs in 2012. Miss St passed for 3090 yards and 28 TDs during that year.
Like I was telling people when then Miles fiasco was happening, Dan Mullen has been taking very low 3 stars, and two star players and winning 7, 8, 9, and 10 games in a year in one of the toughest divisions in CFB. Would have been a great get for LSU.

No way he plays QB? He looks perfectly fine on his tape, and under Mullen, he could be a true success.
Damien Williams was a true freshman in 2013 and got 84 touches as a 3rd stringer. He got a lot of snaps because of injuries, and even started vs Ole Miss. He was a backup last year but saw limited snaps because how good Dak was. Mullen now made Williams redshirt this year. Fitzgerald and Williams will battle for the next guy.
That means that Thompson will have time to develop and is likely the backup as a redshirt freshman in 2018.
I like how Dan Mullen does it. Guys aren't starting until their redshirt sophomore or redshirt junior season. Gives time for these guys to develop as passers.
If you're doubting Thompson just on how he played in a camp, I'd take his play on the field any day over how he performed at one or two camps.

Yes but why waste a great opportunity to over-react. Lol

He has had a couple of 3 and 4 loss seasons as the pinnacle of his success at miss state while teams like aauburn, arkansas , and LSU have had somewhat down years. He is a good coach but you are forgetting some of the poor qb play state has had prior to dak. Lol

Which doesn't always mean a lot.

The QB battle for MSU will be Fitzgerald/Staley. Williams is probably transferring. Also, Russell replaced Relf because Relf hurt his ribs early in the season against Auburn and became kind of timid running the ball and, well, if Chris Relf can't run it...
