The blue-chip defensive back maintained that the Tigers were his No. 1 team even after de-committing on Oct. 2. Joseph echoed those sentiments again at his Army jersey presentation.

“They’re still my No. 1 school,” Joseph said. “They never did fall. It was just what they were going through, but they’re right on track now.”

Be honest, if your son was a top level recruit, wouldn't you want him to be developed and coached?

So I guess that he must have thought that all of a sudden Raymond and Aranda couldn’t develop him or coach him? Spin it however you wish

That’s why it’s been said a billion times,
Don’t commit to the coach ! Commit to the school

I'm not spinning it. As others have said, it looked pretty bad and the situation was becoming toxic. That's all I'm saying.

As a fan, I share your frustration in reading comments like that , but as a parent I understand wanting the best for my child. I can't blame a kid for considering his/her options.

It's a fine platitude.

But he's in high school. He probably has not heard it a billion times.

The LSU football program was in a mini-meltdown. I would be having second thoughts about spending my college career at LSU.

And anyway, it's not really a commitment until the fax is dry.

The number one prospect at db has a lot more to consider than a fan base. He has the opportunity to change his life and everyone around him. Bottom line is if it were my kid, I would make certain the situation was perfect, even if not lsu. Think about the kid for a moment.

I agree completely. Given what the program was looking like a couple of weeks ago, I don't blame him for reconsidering

Unfortunately, many fans struggle with this concept.

People like to scoff at the notion that this is a "business decision" for these kids, but for many, it absolutely is, and should be. Top recruits stand a very good chance of making it to the NFL. Determining factors are their natural ability, work ethic, development and injury luck. Obviously, they have no control over their natural ability and injury luck, but they have total control over their work ethic and who to trust will help them develop to reach their potential.

Recruits should absolutely take into account who the coaches are, if the coaches have the ability to develop them, and the likelihood the coach will be there throughout their time at school.

Let's be fair to the kid, it wasn't just two on field losses that would be cause for worry back in early October. Things were getting pretty toxic for a minute there and on the verge of spiraling out of control.

This. People were trashing the coaches, administration and the players. Things don't look good during those weeks. Hell Brennan decommitted during that shite storm last December where we were waiting for Lane Kiffin and offering Tua for no reason.

not a good sign. is the kid a quitter? I say we should sign another quality guy with more character. I know he's just a kid but giving up on your team is not good.

Look at what his high school team has gone through and how he is still playing and you have your answer.

LSU isn't "his team" until he signs his letter of intent.

Do you people understand how recruiting even works?

I swear, if it were up to some of you, we'd take nothing but 2* guys from Eunice because they'd give their left nut to get an offer from LSU.

From what I've read he genuinely wants to come to LSU, but people need to understand this is a decision that will affect a young man's entire life. He needs to make a wise choice, not one as a fan or based on emotion.

I think LSU is the best place for him, but he has to figure that out on his own and with good counsel.

Kids are committing to the Program which is the school, the facilities and the coaching staff.
This is why all the schools are upgrading the athletic facilities to impress the recruits.
This is why the coaching salaries and buyouts are so ridiculous

We are fans and committed to our school and there are exceptions where kids worshiped a particular school but with media now days its what have you done for me today

LSU's DB recruiting has been incredible. This is basically 10 years of constantly racking up elite corners and safeties.

I think a majority of people will understand if a recruit decommits because of those factors.

On the other hand, the kids that commit to five schools, put out top 50 lists, and complain when "not shown the love" tend to make alot of people put off about the whole system.
