That image doesn't help your cause 'cuz the power of the I formation would donkey stomp a 3-3-5, but yes it's viable against the spread.

That really is a good defensive alignment against spread and if you have problems getting the bigger D-Lineman like some smaller schools. LSU doesn't have problems getting the D-Lineman, its the Linebackers we have problems getting so that wouldn't work for LSU. Unless they used a ton of bigger safeties.

Our front 6 (in that case) could handle power rushing attack. And physical dbs

Alabama is actually going to employ this defense in certain situations. We'll have a traditional 3-4 alignment, but in passing situations Jerrell Harris will line up in the "Money" position, which is essentially the fifth 'backer, or "big" DB depending on how you look at it

So basically he told him they're going to a 3-5 and not to worry about LB depth but in actuality you're going to actually run a 3-5 maybe 15-20% of the time.
