I heard the announcers saying he broke a finger as a sophomore as well.

Not sure if it was the same finger tho.

Yeah it does look bad but it is probably not a big deal. It doesn’t take much to gruesomely break a finger.

I broke my ring finger playing flag football. The top part of my finger was at a 90 degree angle from the bottom part. Dr at the emergency just put it back in the right direction w/ a splint. It was healed in s couple weeks.

I think he'll be fine pretty soon but coach needs to use him as a QB not a RB. Don't chance this kid's career by running him up the middle the whole damn game

When you have helmets coming at you non stop it happens more than you think. Most times they pop it back in and get back out there but if on throwing hand not good for a QB

If it's a dislocated joint, yes they pop it back in place and the player goes back on the field. If it's a break, then it's not just a simple pop back into place, there's structural damage that can't be fixed by popping it back into place. Still, even with a dislocated finger joint, it's going to be painful and difficult for a QB to throw the ball.

That's pretty much what I saw. It's a tough break, no pun intended.

A break is much better long term than ligament damage. Breaks heal, ligament damage can cause permanent problems with grip strength and/or dexterity. From the looks of the picture, the break appears to be in the middle phalanx, so it is unlikely there is long term damage. Then again, I didn’t do the actual exam so who knows?!
