Chicken must have heard about this a few days ago because all of a sudden the bashing and piling on threads started getting whacked at a much higher rate.
We all come here to get the latest news on LSU and to get a feel for the consensus opinion on everything LSU. If a kid, I repeat, KID who has to decide between two or three great school comes here and is turned off, he's not an idiot or a weakling. He's taking in all of what LSU has to offer, including ;
a whole lot of people claiming that Les won't be hear in a year or two
The repetitive idea that Les will not play a freshman even if he is the best player
That kids should transfer because he didn't get his deserved PT
That Les is an idiot who only won with another coaches players
Total doom and gloom
EXACTLY like negative recruiting from coaches from other schools, but its coming from LSU "fans".
What the frick would you think about LSU football after seeing all that saturating the board?

If a recruit only paid attention to what was written on these boards, and used that to determine his "final school of choice", that would be pretty silly. However, you're being naive if you think that it can't possibly have any influence on his decision.
Personally, I would think that the negativity would have a greater influence on out of state kids. As a Louisiana native, I've grown accustomed to the LSU fans who are complete assholes, and I know that they're in the minority. An out of state kid may not recognize the distinction.

I posted a thread a few days ago ""if I was being recruited by LSU" and I read this board... I wouldnt want to come here after all the negative recruiting talk about players, our coaches, and how LSU is going to keep dropping as a team and have a bunch of losses."" I got bashed for awhile by posting it, and the mods were quick to delete it.

What are the odds that assistant coaches, grad assitiants or fans from competing schools post negative crap on this site?
Why wouldn't they create a phony LSU fan ID and sprew negative comments, day and night, about our coaching, clock mgmt, recruits, etc?
I guarantee there is some of that going on here and I truly believe it can have an influence on recruits, or their parents, who are trying to get a feel for the LSU fan base. Unfortunately, it likely happened this year and will only get worse in the years ahead. It's sad...

I think a kid is actually pretty diligent if he checks places like this for as much info he can possibly pick up about a school he might spend four years at. Look, all of these kids know when rival recruiters are negatively recruiting and might want to go to other outlets of information. If I was Chizik, Saban, Meyer, Nutt, Petrino, or Dooley I would have pulled up TD to tell the recruit ; "see, you don't have to believe me, look at what their fans are saying". That would definitely have been one tool in my recruiting arsenal against LSU.

As of yet, I have never seen, regarding any recruit in any given year, for any given school across the nation, in football, basketball or baseball, any type of confirmation that a messageboard determined some kid's final school of choice.

i think that regadless of skill level of the recruit or how coaches develop talent or what the recruit does, even ala Janzen Jackson, no matter what... no bashing of a high school kid should occur period. period. i dont care what the situation is, it can not take place. no frustration from the rant should ever spill over to the recruiting board. this bashing and people that post stupid shite just to vent or add to a post count or whatever should be met with swift action by the admins. posting priviledges need to be revoke in some cases. it is sad that some tiger fans would even consider bashing a KID.

It's no one's contention that a recruit "would rather read a message board to make a decision" than take into consideration all of the other factors involved.
The point is that negative posts may be read by a recruit and/or his family, and that their opinion of LSU may be negatively influenced by those posts.
Honestly, what would you think if you were an 18 year old recruit and read:
A) He looks like a great prospect, I hope he signs w/ LSU.
or
B) Wasted scholarship! This kid sucks. He is too small, too slow and has marginal ability, at best. He's not SEC material and will never play at LSU or any other BCS school.
I'm guessing "A" would be music to your ears. "B" would probably have a less than positive effect. I don't think it's the right of TD posters to try to drive off kids that they think they don't like, but in reality, know little or nothing about.
