re: John Brady
Posted by thevillagetiger on 1/14/17 at 10:44 pm to Number 31
Brady was at best an average coach and did well several years due to some outstanding players who chose to come to LSU because of the efforts and influence of others within the LSU community. For whatever reason, he came across as somewhat nasty. Most of us who attended games while he was coach were more-than-happy to see him gone. He did nothing at AR State and couldn't even win at the Sun Belt level. Anyone now wishing to see him back (on any basis) is delusional.

Thia is one of the most ridiculous ideas ever posted on this board. Brady was/is not a particularly good coach (fired at LSU and not successful at AR State), nor does he relate well to his players or to us, the fans. There are far too many good up-and-comers out there to even think of taking such a backward step.
re: Everyones given thier opinion on Steele as a hire but here is the bottom line.

It's incredible how many ranters know so much more than all of the coaches who make a living at the profession. I just can't quite figure out how this cast of know-it-alls didn't get a call asking them to take the job (or at least make the decision on who should get it). I hope all of you negative Nellies are as successful in your real-time jobs as you would be in coaching.
re: People who want Les out- what do you want to happen in the bowl game?
Posted by thevillagetiger on 12/13/14 at 4:50 pm to misey94
Agree. The pathetic wanna-bees are destroying this board. Les brings a long term winning atmosphere to the LSU football program and sure, he sometimes makes moves that all us know-it-alls don't agree with, but overall he is one of the best. Les Miles exhibits more class on a fulltime basis than any one of our screwball negatiger posters has ever shown. This forum is called Tiger Rant, but that doesn't include the right to continually post nonsensical negative garbage. Cheers, and let's stomp the Foolish Irish from South Bend.
re: Brent Musberger and Jesse Palmer lead announcers on SEC network--Really?
Posted by thevillagetiger on 3/12/14 at 10:21 pm to JBeam
It would be difficult to find a worse announcer than Mush-mouth unless you love the left coast and believe that whichever player made the last play is "the best player in all of college football" (or whatever sport is being covered). It's been well over a dozen years since he has been among the top 10-15 announcers. I avoid games he is calling whenever possible.
re: How do y'all remember DiNardo?
Posted by thevillagetiger on 10/11/13 at 12:01 pm to dgnx6
All of the positive comments about the man are pretty much on the money and the negative comments about his coaching ability and failure to get rid of Tepper are also correct. He was a pleasant individual and represented the university well in many ways -- any haters are looking only at the results, not the man. He was an avid LSU fan in everything and in the football off season often attended/supported other events including the so-called minor sports and women's sports.
re: Official Rant Poll - Who do you want to win the NC game tonight?
Posted by thevillagetiger on 1/7/13 at 8:56 pm to purpleblackgold7
Bama all the way. How anyone can vote for a team that would be no better than 8-4 if they played a real schedule is beyond me. ND is over-rated and over-hyped. Even so, I expected that they would get excited enough to make a game of it.
re: Have to admire the farewell Miles gave to both Nutt and Petrino

-50. As a Tiger living in AR, I saw Nutty close-up and I can assure you he's no better than Petrino in the class department.
re: John Pelphrey era may be nearing its end.
Posted by thevillagetiger on 2/11/11 at 1:22 am to Woopigsooie20
If you're unhappy with Pelphrey, you will be ready to commit hari-kari after a year of Brady. He was awful at LSU and only a few delusional ranters think otherwise. He'd succeed only taking the Razorback program to a low level that would be almost unimaginable.
re: What is the SEC Rants perception of Nutt
Posted by thevillagetiger on 2/4/11 at 9:10 am to dante
Nutt may share the "motivates up" ability with Dale Brown (sometimes), but you are demeaning Dale Brown to suggest that they are alike in any other way. Whether you liked him as a coach or thought he was awful, Brown is a good-hearted gentleman of upstanding character -- Nutt is not.
re: What is the SEC Rants perception of Nutt
Posted by thevillagetiger on 2/4/11 at 12:45 am to Choctaw Hog
This... and add to it, Nutt is the one coach in the SEC that I wouldn't want my son, nephew, or even distant relative to play for. If you want to find an upstanding coach of good character, Nutt won't be anywhere on the first several pages of your list of candidates.

Unfortunately, the western part of HSV is on Entergy and they have outages far too often. Your statement is completely correct for the eastern end of the Village (where I live) which has First Electric service.
re: A coach whining about a fanbase
Posted by thevillagetiger on 9/28/10 at 1:25 pm to oldfan
The negatigers need to support their team and quit whining. If any of these know-nothings are even remotely as successful in their chosen profession as Miles is in his, it would be a shock. Miles is near the top of his, has achieved a national championship, and continues to field an outstanding team. It's nice that the Rant provides a forum for all these idiots to vent, but it probably hurts the team and recruiting far more than any other single factor. If only a few of the negatigers who have all the answers would share their knowledge with Miles and Crowton, I'm sure that all the "problems" would vanish instantly.

Using the same well-reasoned logic shown in your post, it's obvious that if you had another brain cell rolling around in your skull, the pair would be lonesome.

Yeah, jonmaes -- get with the program. Don't you know that the national media are waiting for the ranter's conclusions on the Tiger's batting order before they can go to press? If our know-it-alls don't get the word to Maineiri soon, how will he ever get the lineup card done?

re: John Brady haters - you enjoying this season?
Posted by thevillagetiger on 2/13/10 at 12:03 pm to Templars
Templars -- You were out when you started. It's clear that you don't have a clue. Brady was a fairly decent coach who was fortunate enough to have great recruiting help and rarely coached his players to their full potential. He was and is a nasty individual and did little to enhance LSI's image in the community.
In his first year with a group of players who struggled under Brady, Trent Johnson coached them up and took them further than Brady could have ever dreamed of. Brady left the cupboard bare, so yes, the team is struggling this year. Johnson represents LSU with far more class and is gaining community respect that Brady was unable to achieve in all his years here.
No true comparison is possible for another 2-3 years, until we see what Johnson can do with his own recruits. It will be a huge shock if he doesn't far surpass the expectations held by you and your Negatiger buddies. Why don't you just shut up with the Brady crap and get back to us after the 2012 season? Cheers.....

Kiehl Frazier
Thats because Chris Todd ran it last year, and thats the type of QB he was (he transfered from TTU) you haven't seen what it would like with a dual-threat QB yet.

Wow, you make an astounding accusation that a message board almost determined a recruits decision on what school he wanted to go to and then back it up with a whole lot of zippola.
You my friend should work with Olbermann. You would fit right in.
As of yet, I have never seen, regarding any recruit in any given year, for any given school across the nation, in football, basketball or baseball, any type of confirmation that a messageboard determined some kid's final school of choice.
So call me silly if you will. I just don't believe this happens but I am sure that this anonymous person on the Rant will tell me I am an idiot for not believing someone I don't know who is throwing out a crazy accusation without having the balls to even try to remotely back it up.
---------------------------------
Silly would be too generous. Your posts in this thread indicate that the anonymous people (and you can include me) calling you an idiot are on the money. If you think that the tone of the comments on the message board don't say something about the LSU community, you're delusional.
Constructive criticism is one thing, but the nasty, destructive comments on this board the past several months go far beyond reasonable. Most of the Miles-, Crowton-, and recruit-bashers seem to DEMAND performance that has not been reached in any major sport since the days of John Wooden at UCLA. Get real and think before you post -- the overdone negativity helps no one.

You are an idiot. I haven't (nor will I) read the responses, but there is NO WAY that this "poll" can help the Tigers -- regardless of the outcome. Get a life....
re: Les Miles' Approval Rating (45% Approval, 44% Disapproval)
Posted by thevillagetiger on 12/16/09 at 1:52 am to cubsgrace
Approve. It's doubtful if any of the idiots who disapprove are as good at their job (for those who are old enough to hold a job) as Miles is at his. If you ask them if they think their job is in danger, however, you can be sure that all of them are confident that they are at the top of their group and more than safe.
