After watching the little bit of film I could find on Evans compared to Sophser’s give me the 3* Evans all day. He plays hard to the whistle all the time and he’s got perfect size to play DE in our 3-4. I think he’s going to end up being a steal for us.

He’s definitley a “gem” and I’m not just saying this because he’s a 3 star that LSU landed.

Yeah I wish he had more highlights so everyone could see what I’ve watched the past few years. He only has a couple of plays here and there of highlights, but this kid is the real deal. He comes from a really good blood line and has a really quick jump off of the snap. He’s fast for his size and doesn’t really carry any bad weight on his 305lb frame. He’s a very high character kid that won’t get into any trouble and will work extremely hard. Only thing I’d like to see him get better at is using his hands a little more. That will come with coaching once he gets on campus.

O and Meatball will teach him technique and how to use his hands. Evans and Davin Cotton are two guys i will watch closely. They both have immense talent and a nonstop motor. Cotton is a little undersized but not by much.

I’m right with you on Cotton. He is going to be a player.

On another note, I heard Shelvin is down to 342 lbs. That is within 7 lbs of where the coaches would like him to be.

give me the 3* Evans all day

All day everyday and twice on Sunday. He’s a better player and has a better motor. “Undersized” at 300 plus with NFL lineage. Yes please.

Shelvin has the potential to be a force on defense

Give me a guy who been fully committed for a long time and who wants to wear purple n gold over a guy who commits as a business decision

Agree everyone who has seen him play/knows their stuff has said he’s a true diamond in the rough. His mother passed and he plays with a huge chip. His first cousin is 10-year NFL veteran and Super Bowl Champion Doug Evans

I don't think he hit the camp circuit hard enough to get that 4th star

I've watched every highlight I could find on him and one thing that stood out to me is how quick he gets to the sideline and cover the outside. His athleticism is much better than I expected. He doesn't take plays off. Some serious time in the weight room will improve his hand work and getting off blocks, but he has the technique. Plus, CamRon Jackson is his cousin and CamRon is an athletic monster as well.

The Evans’ and Jackson’s from Haynesville have always been great athletes. I think Cam still has a lot of development before he’s ready. Cam seems to still be adjusting to his growth spurt. He’s always been a big kid, but he went from 6’2 220lbs as a freshman to 6’5 265lbs as a sophomore. Right now I’d say he’s around 6’6 275lbs. He has the build for a 4-3 DE or an OT. He needs to get stronger and adjust to his body. He can definitely move for a guy his size, but he tends to stand straight up at times and he loses the leverage battle. He may have a higher ceiling than Evans, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it took Cam a few years to develop into his potential.

My buddy coached Evans and straight up told me he is most coachable kid he ever coached. Also showed me some video of him straight dominating kids who called him a fake LSU recruit before games

He still has a year and a half before he starts college football. A lot of time for a young guy to get stronger and develop. Do they have a good weight room at Haynesville? I know bama is or was all over CamRon. Now he has committed to LSU I'm sure they will amp up the heat for Guillory. LSU must reel in these high character and highly rated players from Louisiana, especially linemen. We just don't produce enough to miss on 2 or 3 every year. Missing one a year won't hurt, but more than that is really detrimental. Do you think there's a possibility CamRon switches to OL in college?

Evans is one of my favorite recruits in this class.

Remember Bennie Logan was also a 3* coming out of high school.

I think that Jenkins will add quality depth next year, watched him in the playoffs his Jr year while he was still BARELY on the radar but I was superimpressed with his size, speed, agility, strength combI nation and when he got to camps people started to notice...with Shelvin, Livingston and Ika at NG..Fehoko, Lawrence, Logan, Farrell , Thomas, Jenkins and Cotton at Ends we should be much stronger on the D Line this year

I think it’s almost a certainty Cam Jackson switches to play LT. They will give him a chance at DE like they did Rosenthal but his true value and chance of getting paid in the NFL will be on the offensive line.

I agree, Jackson is still young and has plenty of time to develop. Haynesville has a very nice weight room/facilities. The coaches do a good job during the off-season of keeping the guys in shape.

I definitely think Cam’s body type is your prototypical OT. The only concern I have is Haynesville only throws the ball maybe 3 or 4 times a game so he will have to pretty much learn pass blocking technique/footwork from scratch once he gets on campus.
