You know me huh? Well then who are you? There are no bells ringing in my memory bank. Thanks I'm looking forward to them, and I won't be complaining if I am coaching at either place next year but obviously my first choice would be at LSU!!! We'll see though. Yeah I know, everyone is an expert on this board when probably 90% of the them never played football in their life or coached for that matter and don't know anything more about the game than Christopher Lowell.

the reason for the Evangel fallout was because Dinardo practicing with full pads 4 days a week. Abram hurt his back and never played the same ever again. the booty's never liked LSU after that.

Now saying that every Evangel player is overrated all the time is just crazy. Evangel is the high school equivalent to Texas Tech or Hawaii. its all about the system. if Berlin wouldve went to Texas Tech and was able to sit in the shotgun 7 yards deep, that wouldve been unbelievable

Actually Abram Booty hurt his back in an accident out of season at LSU, got surgery and as you said was never the same again. His back just never responded and it caused him to be never 100% again, although he did play for the Cleveland Browns the year after he played at Valdosta State.

Jerry Byrd coached here when I graduated(3A then) and he took us to the playoffs my Jr. and Sr. year...but yeah it is pretty horried for the most part. Gotta support though.

i do remember something about Abram getting hurt in practice because of Dinardo and that is why the Bootys hated Dinardo and LSU. maybe it wasnt his back

Anyone who read this board while the Booty's were at LSU would have no need to ask.

i have to agree with the above posters that JDB was overrated. I was a VERY GOOD college quarterback BUT with all the hype surrounding him coming out of evangel and the talent surrounding him he was never a GREAT college quarterback.

Booty ended up being in the same class as Jamarcus and Flynn. He was a junior during the 2002 season, when Russell and Flynn were seniors, but he decided to graduate after his junior year and ended up as part of the 03 class.

I think those two would have had more of an influence than RP showing up 2 years later.

So what does make a "GREAT college quarterback"?
He actually had less fanfare comming out of High school then either his brother Josh or Brock Berlin because he never played his Sr year in high school. He probably had less fanfare than any QB to come out of Evangel simply because he only played 3 years in high school and never played his Sr year. Kind've hard to get alot of fanfare because of that.

he was pegged to be the best of the bunch....he had enough fanfare for USC to offer him without having gone through his senior year

You guys shouldn't care, you had good QBs while he was at USC. And RP should have been great if he wasn't dumb.

Not really because some morons would be dumb enough to forget what he accomplished in College and say he sucks in the NFL and yada yada yada. I don't think he was overrated at all just making a smart elec comment to represent what many douches on this board would say.

RP was going into his Jr year, when Booty signed with USC, we did have Russell and Flynn coming in.

Unless you have lived under a rock all of your life you would know that major recruits getting offers before their Sr year in High School has started is a common practice in College Athletics today and has been for a quiet some time now. John David Booty had an offer from LSU when he was in the 8th grade for pete's sake. He had offers from LSU, USC, all the Florida schools, Texas, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Purdue, UCLA, Ohio State, Michigan, every SEC school and almost every other major program in the country before he left Evangel to go to USC in 2003. This has happened to alot of other major recruits through the years like Manning, Josh Booty, RP, Vince Young, Russell Shepard, etc.

You proved my point....he must have been hyped if LSU offered him in 8th grade... Like I said he was a very good quarterback but never great... Never really scared opposing teams and never took his team on his back. Like a Tim Tebow; Jemarcus Russell, Brady Quinn, Colt McCoy, Vince Young...etc.
