we're gonna have to loot another hotshot from Alabama or Mississippi.

eta: not a big deal if Hickey is as good as advertised.

I guess so? Does Trent have a terrible relationship with the AAU programs within Louisiana?

Anyone else feel like the train is kind of coming off the tracks here? I know we have O'Bryant coming in, but he's most likely a one to two year guy and has admitted as much. With Derenbrecker leaving, and Gathers and Felix going elsewhere, it's becoming more and more evident that Johnson just doesn't have it. And I dont think that's an overreaction. If we can't get at least a few of the occasional blue chip guys in state, we have no chance to win consistently, or even occasionally.

Very underrated Point Guard, good get for Texas.

I think the knock on him is that he's not a good shooter but you can be a very good point guard even if you can't shoot. Just look at Trevor Releford.

trent has a terrible relationship with everyone related to basketball in Louisiana. From what I've heard coaches don't like him. Players obviously don't... Wish we hadn't muddled things with Grant. We had the first crack at him and we pissed it away. Should have given that guy whatever he wanted.

Serious question and not just a Trent criticism: Who's the last St. Aug player to sign with LSU basketball? Have we ever even had one?

I don't really understand Felix's reasoning here. Considering the Findlay pipeline to Texas, the Grassroots Canada connection to Texas, and the fact that they are still the top Nike school in the state, I imagine they will continue to recruit over him for the next 4 years.

That's basically what we did for Grant. Offered a ton of money and made lots of promises to the point where he wouldn't turn us down.

That's kind of amazing don't you think. I know LSU and St. Aug had beef for a long time, but still the fact that, at least in my memory we've never had a player from historically the top HS in the state in producing college bball talent is crazy.

I don't think he meant that it would be better to go to LSU, just that he should have played it out longer to see what other majors come through. He is coming off a couple of great camps/tourneys, why not sit back and see what else could be a fit.

LSU not recruiting their players back in the day and St. Aug continued to largely avoid LSU because of it until like the late 80's - early 90's.

Assuming the losses of Felix and Ricardo stick...this has effectively left TJ as a dead man walking.

Good coach but just hasn't landed enough talent during his tenure to get LSU where we'd like for it to be.

Idk, this only comes into play if he is on the fence after this year. 9 time out of 10, a coach on the hot seat makes it definitive on the court. If he loses this year he is gone, and if he wins he stays. I think it's been this way since March.
