Seems to be the opposite of what he says. I'll trust him over his uncle.

Landry kid is one of the most physical WR's I've seen. In fact, I'm surprised he doesn't get called for offensive pass interference alot of times.

And you know this how? Do you know him personally? have you talked to him about where he wants to play and PT? What about his grades or the women he is having fun with so throwing stuff like that at him will likely not matter. There are EXCELLENT receivers playing in the NFL from the SWAC. The Greatest of all time played in mississippi and with SF.

True and Jerry Rice was a 5 star and future LSU wide recievers coach.

No but my brother does

No but I am good friends with all of the Lutcher coaches, particularly the WRs coach, and they have talked to him about it.

Grades may be an issue, but he's only a junior so he has time to bring them up. And yes I agree, if grades are a problem then he might end up in the SWAC or JUCO, but lets be honest, if he qualifies and has an offer from D1, he is without a doubt going D1.

May be true but Jarvis isnt stupid. He will have a much easier route to the NFL by being a high draft pick, assuming he produces, at LSU as compared to any SWAC team

But what about the SWAC marching bands and how LSU doesnt play Neck that good. You dont think that play a role in his decision?
Posted on 9/9/09 at 1:20 pm to lsugradman
This could be the first time LSU loses a head to head recruiting battle with a SWAC team

Jacksonville State stole RP from right under our noses

Jarvis Landry would be a top 100 prospect in the 2010 rankings if he were a senior at this point.
He is an elite talent--it doesn't matter at all that he is only a junior as he is still one of the elite WRs in all of the country
While this is true, he is NOT going to LSU and will very likely not go to any D1 school. His bro attended Southern and he LOVES the SWAC. His Bor was an all conf player and made a pro team. This kid has grades problems as well. He is smart, but his grades suck. So don't get too hyped about him. His team mate Webster will likely play for the LSU Baseball Team. He really prefers baseball over footbal and is a GREAT prospect. My only concern is he will likely get drafted.
This is a retarded statement. Big time prospects don't play in the SWAC because they want to. The have to.

I will only tell you what he is telling his family he sees once per week. they also nailed the kid that is at tulsa and a few others. His brother has had a lot on influence on him and how he respects Black College Football. I respect how he feels about that and hope he follows his heart and blows it up where he desides it is best for him to go.

This is stupid. I'm from Lutcher. Jarvis loves being in the spotlight and wants as much attention as he can get. Why else would he have worn gold shoes as a sophmore when the rest of the team wears black. He will not chose to play on TV only for the Bayou classic when he can be on CBS and ESPN primetime. He almost gets a penalty after every big play for showboating. Doesn't look like a guy who wants to fly under the radar. He may have put that out so he doesn't seem like an idiot if he doesn't fully qualify for D1. He will be a tiger.

uh ok. I simply said what he has REPEATEDLY said to his family. His brother was an excellent student - he is not, but his brother chose to go to and play at Southern. I didn't say he would go to Southern, but maybe there are other programs out there like FAMU that could be place for him.
The only reason why I made the initial comment about him was I made a comment to his family about him going to LSU and what their thoughts were for us to sign him. There was a laugh, then a statement about his grades and the fact that he loves Black College Football. I brought up the hostesses and recruiting process, partying and playing close to home. He also has family that played at Tulane as a lot of Lutcher players (particularly in the past) have played. some other lutcher guys are at Southern Miss. Spotlight or not, I simply stated what his family told me. Maybe they are wrong about all of this. we will see.

"Most of the time I thought LSU was out in front," said Landry, who is already academically qualified. "They're the home state school and had accomplished so much and basically that was all I knew. Now that I'm getting looked at by some other schools I'm opening up to everybody.
Also says he's trying to do BIG things.
