Jacob Washington, Shaw, WR recruiting

Was looking through WR rankings and saw this guy committed to Michigan, ON3 has him ranked at 83, they have Meadows at 259, while looking at Meadows I saw he's now over 50% to flip to ND, that would leave us with only Francis and Wright, those two look like two really good prospects but you'd think that the year we get Underwood we'd do alot better recruiting WRs

This has been discussed, and I’m trying to remember correctly, but I think one of Washington’s coaches from Shaw is with Michigan now or something along those lines.
I have no clue if we have pursued him or not, but I think he was pretty solid to Michigan.

per JW .... "Michigan has a winning culture ... it speaks for itself to go along with a world-class education. It was the best decision for me and my family," Washington told Rivals. "Given my connection to Coach Bellamy, him being from New Orleans and going to my school, I have a strong relationship with him and a strong connection with him."
FYI - Ronald Bellamy graduated from Shaw in 1999 and MICH in 2002. He played WR at Michigan. Good possibility Washington's parents new Bellamy growing up and likely attended HS together. Makes perfect sense for Washington who can play at Michigan and make a name for himself. Not every LA kid wants to play for LSU. Some want to leave the State ... i.e. Sed Van Pran several years ago.

I literally just asked what the situation was because today's the first time I'd seen him, i didnt even know if we offered. I did notice that according to RPMs Meadows is over 50% to flip which would leave us at only 2 WRs which is bad considering we have a commitment from an all world QB and LSU is WRU. Never did I add all that extra bullshite your talking about nor did I say that he was fricked up for not coming to LSU, I just asked the situation if that's fricking ok with you bro. Next time I have a question I'll run it by you first. The attitudes some people get because their behind their phone is crazy these days

My man, relax, all he did was post information to help answer your question.

Everyone knows that not all Louisiana players go to LSU, then adding little things like "FYI"... it was pretty obvious what he was trying to say, so I responded, sorry not sorry. He had connections with coaches at Michigan. I saw all the other stuff as extra for no reason. Maybe I was extra but he was first so I responded, I'm done talking about it

pawpaw, you need some Midol ? You posted a topic with questions regarding Jacob Washington's recruitment and what's his connection to MICH. I replied with his direct quote on why he committed to MICH. Additionally, facts were provided on the Mich WR coach Bellamy who is from NOLA, went to the same HS (Shaw), and has an established relationship with Washington and his family.
Nobody was disrespecting you or responding in a derogatory way. Sorry your feelings got hurt as maybe the recruiting board is not for you.

LSU staff isn’t high on him or pushing him. The On3 Michigan mod even said he’s ranked too high

Washington is grossly overrated by on3. Even Michigan's own on3 mod said he has Washington nowhere near Top 100 overall. Has him a high 3-star/low4-star. There is nothing Washington has done this season to make people think he's remotely close to a Top WR in the entire country. Extremely mystifying ranking by their national team.
In their justification they said he ran a 11.3 100m (which isnt fast) and has "decent" overall athleticism for a 6'3 guy (but he's like 180, not some big body guy). Referenced a 30" vertical which again, not exactly groundbreaking for any WR.
He isnt being courted by us and the staff doesnt think he's one of the top, let alone best WR in the state. They have a much better gauge on that thing that national on3 guys would, especially when a Michigan mod said they are way off
They have both Michigan commits from LA ranked very very highly and I dont think a lot of people who following LA recruiting closely would have either nearly that high (Washington or Parker).

I was pushing hard for the kid before the Michigan commitment. Seemed like LSU was never going to try hard to flip him, so i moved on. If i had my way, the 3 Louisiana guys would be in this class.
Michigan connection just seems too strong.

Have watched him play and seen Francis twice this season. To my amateur eye, Francis looks like a much better college prospect.

To hear folks around here tell it On3 is infallible and their shite don't stink. Meanwhile for years bitched about the Bama bump which conveniently began with Rivals, continued to 247 and now On3. The 2 links, Lucky and BOL. Where they go, questionable rankings follow. Guess who Charles Power used to work for? You guessed it, BOL. And I'm not a believer in the Bama bump. Just biased, contrived rankings to fit an agenda based on subscriber bases. Follow the money.

You're as dramatic and sensitive as a female. Maybe stay off message boards

quote:Francis is college ready. He'll get play time early depending on how many receivers return next year. As for Washington, he's one of those guys that need time to develop. Think DJ Chark. In Chark's 3rd year he was the #2 receiver on a team that threw for less than 2300 yards. In his final year he was the leading receiver averaging almost 22 yards a catch with nearly 900 yards on only 40 catches.

Im really high on Francis though. Way too mny people are sleeping on him and Phillip Wright based purely on recruit rankings.

I’ve seen Jacob Washington play and with all due respect to the kid, he didn’t seem like anything special to me
He’s probably ULM good, not Michigan good in my completely ignorant opinion

I don’t believe he has gotten a ton of targets. He didn’t get many at Lafayette Christian early in the year.

He was a late bloomer in measurables.
Listed at 6-1, 170 his senior year at Alexandia.
Listed at 6-4, 198 on 247 at LSU.
