Is it bad I’m already looking at potential portal candidates?

With the obvious caveat that we have no idea who may or may not enter the portal, so this may be a pointless exercise, here are a few names of interest with specific Louisiana roots that perhaps may want to spend their final year in Baton Rouge
*S Bud Clark, TCU (Alexandria) — 8 INTs last 2 years including pick 6 vs Michigan in CFP. Clark has been exceptional on the back end for TCU. 6’2, 4.6 speed. Ballhawking safety.
*DT Patrick Jenkins, Tulane (Nola) — 3 sacks for the Green Wave this year. Former LSU commit that originally transferred from TCU. Would have to be a graduate transfer but would think he’s got that four years into college.
*WR Will Sheppard, Vandy (Mandeville) — team captain. 9 receiving TDs last year, 7 so far this year, second in the SEC currently behind BTJ. Serious draft candidate. But LSU could be looking for a transfer alpha at WR in 2024 with Nabers and Thomas likely off to the NFL
*CB DeCamerion Richardson, Miss St (Bossier) - 6’2 starting at corner for Bulldogs second year in a row. Legit 4.4 speed. Had a blocked FG return for a TD against A&M in 2022
Who catches your eye?

No it's not.
The coaches better be.
People on here overrated this defense and team before the year.
I read "undefeated"

Clark and Jenkins should have never gotten away from us coming out of HS. With the new lack of signee limits is these types of LA guys we need to be signing

I went back through the twitter machine and Clark was absolutely killing the spring circuit
Was clocking 4.6 forty, 4.3 shuttle. At 6’2. Locking up WRs in those camp settings. Talking shite while doing it.
Reminded me of old LSU DBs

Anyone know how the DBs that have left the state the last couple of years are doing?
Jacoby Mathews
Derek Williams
Jordan Matthews
Ausberry brothers
Curly Reed
We need some depth at all DB positions. All of these guys were blue chip recruits.

Starter. Much better in run support than coverage.

One is a LB at ND. Both haven’t seen significant snaps.

Hasn’t played at UW

This one triggers me. Go and sign a kid out of Vegas vs this guy (LSU was way too late on matthews). He’s young for his age. No significant snaps

Derek Williams
Going to be a pro. Pressed into duty Saturday vs OU and was terrific. Can cover 1 on 1 and tackle. This one hurts.

We should throw some serious NIL funds at Zavion Thomas.
Posted on 10/8/23 at 5:43 pm to MrWiseGuy
