You talk about Riley not even scratching the surface of his potential, but going on to say he's the most technically sound LB in the class. Those two things do not correlate. Him being technically sound actually gives my position more creedence. Because that means he's closer to his ceiling, there is less left for him to learn.

he hasnt been moffitized!!! he will get stronger, bigger, faster, his ability to read a play on the run; attack into the line of scrimmage; drop into coverage on play action and get into position to defend the pass; if he signs here he will not need to learn how to do these things he will only need to learn how to read faster since the game is faster on the college level..his abilities dont limit him i think they put him in front the class...hence, my reason for not believing that he is only a 3*

Did you miss the part where he's been at John Curtis for the last 4+ years? Moffit came from Curtis. I already went over this, you aren't actually refuting anything, you're just repeating things that don't really make sense.

If he has maxed out on his development and is still 205 lbs, is he good enough in coverage and fast enough to play some safety? Could Moffit keep him lean and fast rather than bulk him up?

I know his daddy and his mother. Athletes on both side of the family. His daddy was a very good wrestler and his mother had bothers and cousins that could have played college ball easily.

he has been taught the position by an all-american middle linebacker with a record 433 tackles in a four year college career...according to your logic he has reached his ceiling and should only be a 3*

It's not my fault you can't grasp what I'm saying.

jrvente, let me be clear. I'm not saying Riley is not a good player.

I am not saying he is not productive.

I am not saying he is not talented.

I am not saying he does not have the potential to play on an SEC Field.

I am not-nor will I ever-debate about whether a kid should be a three, four or five star player. That's a totall subjective discussion that makes zero sense in worrying about or spending your time talking about.

What I am saying is that Riley is going to get caught up in a numbers game at LSU that will prevent him from seeing the field. There are simply more talented, more experienced players ahead of him.

I've asked you already to explain what the HS landscape looks like in-state for 2014, as well as perhaps give me some background on other LSU targets in our recruiting area. You haven't done that.

I've rebutted your discussion points by talking about the depth chart in detail, and then deconstructing the myth regarding his technique as it relates to early playing time.

Do you have an actual point to make in repsonse to me, or are you just going to repeat this talk about a one dollar bet?

You seem like a guy who is heavy on substance, but I'm trying to give you a different perspective that's also heavy on substance. Its a perspective you may not like. But why not explain to me why you think differently?

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. This is fricking stupid, I'm done here.

You ask a question, get reasonable responses as to why things are the way way they are, and then continue to repeat the same things over and over and challenge everyone to a bet. Your arguments don't make any sense yet you try to marginalize the ones that do.

you know what i could really argue with you all day...i could rebut every point that you claim you have rebutted in my argument about Duke, i could sit here and research every linebacker in the state from 2014 on down to 2017...

I could but Im not...why you ask? first I am at work...second...I only argue for money, if you ain't paying I ain't arguing...

Now you have your opinion and I have mine. Because i have played linebacker for 15 years of my athletic career I consider myself very knowledgable about the position...whether he plays here at LSU or somewhere else. I am of the opinion that Duke Riley deserves more than 3 stars.

The problem with that is that other school is probably Ole Miss. In 2-3 years when this kid is a tackling machine for the Rebels people are going to be asking why the hell LSU didn't take this kid. Of course we could bump this thread and point out he went to JC and that means he's reached physical peak in high school blah blah blah.

reminds me of Eric Alexander from 2003-4 he was a special teams standout and emerged as a descent linebacker his Sr. year

I did a search on Eric, Rivals goes back to 2002, Eric was a 2000 signee, I think he was a 3 star player...I don't put that much into stars, but I remember Eric made a lot of noise on special teams which is 1\3 of the game.

He could get an LSU offer if he has an outstanding season. Probably a star at LaTech or Tulane.
