It seems clear that Lane and BG have prioritized certain positions that they're willing to pay up for and others that they just won't in high school and I get what they're doing. If you can land 15-20 guys that are going to play somewhere for you on day one, be that special teams or elsewhere, and combo that with veteran, developed guys in the portal, that seems to be what the recipe calls for.

The line between portal and elite HS prospects has blurred financially speaking. In either case, if the boosters stop ponying, you won't win. And that goes for just about every program today.

I mean, yeah. "Just keep the good players and let the bad ones leave" is great in theory but good luck manifesting that in reality.
