Chris Garrett is as solid as they come. His dad came to TSD for a chat and talked to us for about 2 hours about Chris, his commitment, the after effects felt about his commitment, and how much he is looking forward to being at LSU.
Information straight from his father's mouth...take it to the bank.
myth busted, problem solved, thread worthless

so, him being white gives him the edge on being smart and executing the offense in comparison to a young black quarterback?

This is what I posted about him two or three weeks ago.

This is where I got the information for that post. This is a better link than the one in my above post.
LINK
So based on what he said in that story, I really think he is very solid. Plus, that story was only run two weeks ago. Hopefully, he hasn't changed his mind that quickly.

Thanks, Lynx. I did not know about Chris' father's comments.
As for this thread being worthless, it was a question, not an assertion. I didn't know if there was any counteracting information. There is. I am glad.
Thanks for answering.

Also the part about Garrett not fitting into Crowton's offense is bogus. Crowton's offense can use either a pocket passer or a spread option type QB. It's not limited to just one type. I don't recall Crowton running the spread option at Tech, BYU, or the NFL.

His dad came out about a week/week and a half ago and said Chris is 100% solid, he really loved LSU, and they are 100% behind him.

Very ignorant statement. Any LSU fan would know how important quarterback depth is right now with injuries & suspensions. We were set for the next few years then with the Perrilloux dismissal we were scrambling for qb commits. Maybe we shouldn't have offered Matt Flynn either because we already had a commitment from JaMarcus Russell. If that would've happened then we easily could've had a different outcome in the Peach Bowl against Miami and no experience at qb this past year. Garrett is going to be a solid, maybe great college quarterback. You have no idea how he will progress on the next level in comparison to our other qb's. He is definetly still a priority.

Garrett will be fine in Crowton's offense, that is what makes Crowton such a commodity, the point trying to be made is, he has more options with Jefferson because of the fact that he can run and throw. Jefferson has a few issues with throwing across his body which casues some inaccuracies and not seeing the windows open fast enough, but that is about all. He's smart, strong arm, and has tremedous work ethic. You can take that to the bank.

false

Elleshoe said Ben Voogd was a good player and sig quoted somebody for a year for saying Chad Jones would be better than Joe McKnight.

Garrett is as solid to us as they come
And if he WERE waivering, hes not anymore because State picked up a solid QB out of Meridian a few weeks ago.
Garrett to LSU book it. Like Lynx said, his father has come and spoken on the scout board.
My parents are also mutual friends of his (they serve on a MS State Board together).
This thread is very worthless, especially for those who think Garrett would never start at LSU.

with the tremendous closing speed of SEC defenders these are probably the two most important habits to break

I agree, but the arm strength and speed he brings to the table cannot be coached. And this is not what garrett or lee or hatch can bring to the table, so it limits crowton's offense with fewer options.

JJ needs time, lee has great arm strength and hatch's is moderate with a good deep ball. the absolute most important thing in crowtons offense is making the reads, they have a ton of option routes and the QB and WR's have to be on the same page every single play, i.e. toliver running an in route and malcom jenkins picking off flynns pass in the BCSNCG

I think it would be nice to have another scholly for a receiver; thats just my opinion.

granted, he's not what you would consider a running QB but he is mobile enough and what have you seen that indicates he doesn't have a strong enough arm? Crowtons offense, i.e. LSU's offense, needs a QB that can spread the ball around and utilize all the talented skill players available. A QB that can see the field and pick up the open reciever and get him the ball while not making mistakes.
