The problem is the expectation that everyone should sign in December. February should always have been the primary signing day

Not sure about not signing LOI and still enrolling early....but if true, I don't believe they would be able to practice with the team until they do. And that's the whole point of enrolling early right? They didn't come to college to play no school.

I am., it makes the scholarships at The School more valuable.Takes some of the playing around and using the school by some athletes away. Holding the school hostage til he picks a hat on a table.
Having a early signing day Makes some of them learn what being responsible is, have a commitment in life and growing up a little.
You play around and the school you really want to go to doesn't have room for you anymore in February.

Make the early signing day only for early enrollees. All others must sign in February!

Agreed, also helps coaches that have players switch on signing day ( which has happened a lot to LSU ) to fill those spots to fit their roster. If a player is truly committed, he will sign on early signing day. Don't think committing at all-star games is that big a deal nowadays.
