Let’s look at how these mid major guys and a role player faired versus teams with a pulse.

Sutton played two teams with a pulse. He went 5-16 for 11 points and 4 boards vs St John. He went 1-7 for 3 points and 3 boards vs Iowa State. Numbers were highly inflated versus very bad teams all year.

Dedan Thomas played 3 teams with a pulse. He went 4-14 for 8 points and 6 assist vs Utah State. 5-14 for 16 points and 5 assist vs Dayton. He went 4-11 with 10 points and 6 assist vs Miss State. Great assist man but not a very good shooter.

Max McKinnon played Gonzaga twice and that’s it. He went 7-15 for 18 points and had 4 turnovers. He also went 3-8 for 8 points and 2 turnovers. He had 11 turnovers his last two games.

Rashad King played 1 team with a pulse. He went 3-11 for 8 points and 3 turnovers.

Nwoko was just a role player who gets into foul trouble while not playing more than 20 min a game.

Before we start to think these transfers will turn the program around, they are not close to what is needed to make McMahon into a good coach.

We seem to be overpaying on these guys as well.

I have roasted the shite out of Matt Mcmahon but you're delusional if you can't even admit this portal class is very impressive. Where do you think Florida got all of this talent? Auburn is also full of a bunch of mid major grandpas.

Whether or not Mcmahon does anything with this roster is another subject, but the days of excuses are over. Sutton and Dedan are big time. LSU clearly gave Mcmahon a frick load of money to work with.

Florida’s Clayton from Iona
Auburn’s Broome from Morehead State
Tennessee’s Lanier from North Florida

I could keep going but I’m not going to waste anymore time on stupid posters like you.

ranks under the Atlantic 10.

They played crappy out of conference. 10 of 11 teams rank below 68 SoS. 6 teams rank below 130 rpi 3 ranking 229 or worse.

No they do not.

U are using Florida and Auburn and Tenneseee who have great coaches.

Broom averaged 3 Pfs a game his first season at Auburn. Was a role player in year 2. Is in his 5th year and 3rd at AU. Big difference.

Lanier is a 5th year senior playing for a great program and coach.

Clayton is a senior who is in year 2 at Florida. Great program. Great coach.

You're just gonna conveniently leave out that Thomas had 22 on 8-13 with 6:1 A/TO at Utah St. 2 weeks after the game you're referencing above?

And using Dayton as an example of a "team with a pulse" when UNLV played multiple games against tournament teams in conference is just cherry picking

My fault. Shooting 5-14 vs Dayton is actually really bad. Thanks.

Not knowing the difference in these coaches and programs is mind boggling.

I never said it wasn’t impressive. Just saying no reason to get really excited for next season when the top stayed the same.

Oh, so it is a talented portal class? Which one is it?

Your thread was about the portal class being weak, not whether or not Matt Mcmahon is magically a great coach now. I don't think any loyal and reasonable basketball fan is sold on us being a contender, but these are the pieces you need at least.

My money is on us being a bubble team with a newly loaded roster (another failed season ) , but NIl always been the battle cry for mcmen. I hope I am way wrong about Mcmahon and he makes some noise.

Lol you saw a little number next to Dayton in the box score and thought they were good. You are obviously clueless.

You are so ignorant

So you think when they played good competition the opponent didn’t key on them or double? You think they just said they didn’t care about the other team’s best player? You have not watched a second of any of those games. We are getting the best players off several solid mid major teams and building a team. It is such a dumb and small minded approach to evaluating transfers

Great talent can overcome bad coaching. Not sure any of those fit that bill. Thats what the thread is about. For what we are paying, we need more talented players to fix coaching.

On the contrary actually. Dayton at one time was ranked inside top 10 rpi. They beat UConn. Lost by 2 to UNC and lost by 4 to Iowa State. Their conference schedule at the back end of their season dropped their rpi. But yea. Clueless!

Look. My post history is ripe with "I can't stand Matt Mcmahon" so you're somewhat preaching to the choir. I also am in the same party that thinks LSU's problems are much more than NIL.

But we also never have anything to be excited about and love to be letdown as LSU basketball fans, so naturally I am going to think we are back for a few hours.

Same thing applies that good teams can scheme against other teams best (or top) players.

They also lost to George Washington by 20 and St. Bonaventure by 22.

Either clueless or really dumb, or a combination of both

I hear you. I attended every game when I was a student. Try to make 2-3 per year now. It sucks. And I don’t want to think fools gold is actual gold.

So far we we've gotten probably 2 starters in dedan and Sutton. McKinnon and king might be starters but I would feel better if they were coming off the bench.

If we can bag either a really good 2 or 3 then the portal class should at least be covering all our immediate needs
