I agree with you. There was talk at one time that Jarvis Jones was in, and then within a week it changed to Jones had eliminated LSU. Neither piece of information was correct. I don't blame the pay services. I just think when it comes to recruiting, these situations are so volatile that it makes no sense to pay for the information. It is just too likely to change and your just as well off getting the information that is available for free. My subscription to Scout expires in 3 days, and it will be cancelled. The information that Sentimore was going to LSU only to be changed within 1 day cut it for me. The same information was available right here for free.

You wouldn't quote a stock price on Monday and expect it to be the same on Friday, would you? No, you wouldn't. It's the same principle when it comes to recruiting. You have people constantly tweaking decision models as new information presents itself in a limited information environment. Things change. People let us know what they want us to know. Information control is a part of everyday life. It's called manipulation, but you may know it as the news.

this is an incredibly faulty analogy because in most cases a stock price has no end result where as a recruits decision does. and i will eventually find that information out free of charge 100% of the time.

on signing day

ETA: and I said principally the same. discounted cash flows or multiples isn't exactly what i was talking about. doesn't matter in this case if one continues into perpetuity and the other doesn't. I'm talking about the flow of information.

The only day you give a flying frick about the "stock price" is on Friday. We're paying on Monday for "experts" to tell us what the stock price will be on Friday, and all they're saying is "well, today the stock price is X, but who knows what could happen by Friday". Why the frick pay an "expert" to tell you what the stock price is going to be on Friday if all he's going to do is quote you that day's price???

Either that expert sucks balls, OR it is impossible for anyone on Monday to have any idea of the stock price on Friday...even with "perfect" information.

It's a little of both, and I'm thinking real hard about cancelling too. It's good to have all the inside info, but when the inside info is complete garbage and intentionally sugar-coating shite to maintain subscriptions, I start to think "frick this shite"

Funny post. I cancelled my subscription to rivals last year and haven't really regretted it. It was nice to read articles about the kids but like you stated, they're making a lot of predictions that aren't coming true. The whole McKnight thing was a fiasco for the recruiting sites who thought they had inside information that just turned out to be a big pile of hullabaloo! This year the Rueben Randle and Sentimore thing is bad enough without reading about it on the pay sites. I can get all I really want to know and more from the recruiting board here at TD. Thanks Chicken and the gang at TD!

of course it does. because the information of the end result is what matters. and it's clear that none of these guys know what the end result will be. and it's not their fault, it's just the way it works with 17 year old kids. the poster below you pretty much summed it up:

Do what you got to do if you feel that disenchanted, but don't waste the time of other people that don't feel the same way by bitching about it on a recruiting board.

No such thing as perfect information. That's what I'm getting at. Everything changes as we move through time. What recruiting sites give us is snapshots. End of the day, it's the kid's decision. Are we aware of how his brain works? no. do we know what his influences and beliefs are? no. the kid's been on earth for 18 years and we try to figure out what's been going on for the past 17 and half. fans feel too entitled. we aren't entitled to shite when it comes to these kids except whether or not they are on the roster come game day.

Pretty sure I'm not the only person bitching about it, so I'm pretty sure "other people" feel the same way I do.

I think the title "I'm canceling my memberships" should have tipped you off as to the discussions that were going on in here, and if you didn't want to "waste your time", then you didn't have to read them.

I'll bitch about it on a recruiting board in a thread about the exact topic that I'm bitching about if I damn well please.

I wasn't singling you out personally. My bad if it came out that way.

There is a limited amount of information available to us, and the recruiting sites are the best providers of that information IMHO. There are too many uniformed posters that half arse follow recruiting on this board that use heuristics. I'm fricking tired of it. That's why you see so many "locks." When something changes, all people remember seeing is "locks" and it sets up for disappointment and flaming and chicken little posts. IMO.
