^This. LSU would have to play Mettenberger some in order to get him ready for 2012.

You would think so, but knowing Miles JL and JJ will get most of the PT. In 2006 Flynn didn't get much PT mostly JR.

The articles I've read about him never said he had won the job. It was all about it being a 3 person race to see who would win the job. Then he got kicked off and the race was down to Gray and Murray. Either way, he isn't coming in here and putting JJ and Lee on the bench. They will be seniors and Miles has a lot of trust in both of them even if others don't. Mettenberger will sit on bench a year and get better then start for two years. IMO

The articles you read were wrong. When he got kicked off the team all they talked about on the radio was how they just lost their best QB, he was going to be the starter, etc, etc.

FWIW, a friend of mine who was at the UGA spring game said ZM was easily the best QB on the team.

Also, Logan Gray was never seriously considered at the QB spot. He might be an emergency backup, but he's no QB.

If I'm not mistaken, and I very well could be, this was about the time they decided to move Gray because they had two quality QBs. From what I've heard it was down to Murray and Mettenberger and Mettenberger had the support of many fans of the program. We will get a talented QB if he does end up here.

The staff did a great job with RP, had a package of plays he executed pretty much every game. To the point RP was ready to not only start but win the SEC CG and be named MVP.

I was as critical of the staff as anyone, and I was openly hoping the Michigan would hire Les away from us. But then a funny thing happened.

LSU went to a two QB system, and suddenly both JJ and JL look like they get it. To the point where our offense is suddenly averaging 400 ypg over the last two games, when the two QB system started.

I'm manning up, and giving the staff the credit they are due.

I would think a main selling point for Mettenberger to come here is some promised playing time in 2011. Not going to start with both JJ/JL here obviously...but he should figure to get any time we can 2nd team reps in a game.

then he must be wrong because from everything I read/heard Murray was always ahead.

Mettenberger was awful before the spring game. He had a good spring game and then got thrown out.

Alot of people at UGA were sick of him and his attitude. Apparently, the guy was a cocky a-hole. Maybe he has mellowed out now.

His accuracy wasn't nearly as good as Murray's and that's why Murray had the lead the whole time.

I'm not. why would I do that? That makes no sense. This is from what i've read and heard from other UGA fans "in the know."

Well why should I believe a fake scout over your rivals board mod? Now that makes no sense.

Perhaps the rivals mod is incorrect. Its happened before.

This whole Mettenberger>Murray is really insignificant and unsubstantial. I personally have no idea who was ahead of who back in the spring. The vast majority of UGA people I talk to say that Mettenberger was a solid recruit who looked really good. Murray was a big time recruit and he has played very well as a young 1st year starter under difficult circumstances (leaky OL, no AJ Green, RB problems).

There is no need to keep this pissing match between Mettenberger and Murray going. Who cares? Murray is very good at UGA. Mettenberger could be very good at LSU. He is a solid recruit who has looked good and could really help us at a position of need in the future. Thats all that matters.

You'd have a different tune if ZM was still at UGA. Funny how everything you've heard was all about Murray and everything I've heard said ZM was the starter till he got booted.

No matter what, I think the chances of landing ZM will be EXTREMELY HIGH. He is basically guaranteed of a starting job in the SEC on a team with a ton of offensive talent in 2012. From what I have seen of him, he definitely is talented and the best QB available who could play really quickly.
