I am not saying that the top La recruits are playing games, but it does look like the Staff is not in a passive wait and see mode.

Offering guys in Texas is huge, because Texas HS Football is top quality football.

Better get your seat, This LSU train is moving fast.

....and around the corner, posters will have a complete meltdown if a La. recruit decides to head out of state.

Funny how that works.

They have to be, otherwise, relying solely on our in-state guys would no doubt leave us with holes in our class, should one or more of our top guys go elsewhere.

It is weird that the one year where our state has more talent than ever before that most of our commits are from OOS recruits.

My theory is that the OOS recruits see how loaded our state is and want to make sure they have a spot in the class which is great because we have some High Quality kids committed.

The problem comes in and I truly believe this will happen is that some instate kids get left behind.

We have 7 commits (Really 8 with the Rasheed kid) ... That leaves 17 spots and here is my guess on how many more we take at each postion.

2 Rbs - LF and (Shorter, DW, Paliei) ... 15 spots left
3 Wrs - Dupree, Noil, and (Quinn, Williams, Brown) 12 spots left
1 TE - McNeil
2 OL - Brumfield and Robinson () 9 spots left
4 DL - Willis, Clark, Godchaux, (And a guess) 5 spots left
2 Lbs - Young and Davis () 3 spots left
3 Dbs - Brown, Jones, and (Johnson, Jackson, Adams etc etc)

That means we do not take a QB nor do we take more than 3 OL.

Nice problem to have, beats the heck out of not being able to get the commits we need to keep the program going strong.

Our staff really does their own homework, and does not place much emphasis on what other's think. They hit the film hard, and really value their own observations in camp in particular.

Exactly. We have to recruit nationally for the times when instate guys aren't there to fill our needs or they go elsewhere.

Pipelines to Texas, California, Florida, South Carolina, etc. are HUGE for us.

It worries me a little bit, but I trust Les and "Frankie." They always got the paper tigers' back.

I like what you have here, but I am sure that atleast one will jump ship and we will snag one from somewhere we least expect.

I agree to a point.

The top La kids have LSU offers and in this age of media/hype total and all out blitz, they should have an good idea where they want to spend their college years.

If they wait or choose to play mind games because ESPN and the All Star games wants to hype them and they lose their place, I have little sympathy for them.

I don't even sweat LF decision as much as I did at first. We will be fine either way.

Being at LSU was one of the best times of my life in a lot of aspects, I would not trade it for the world.

I like that LA players don't automatically get an offer. It makes an offer something very special, that you pray for that phone call or letter.

the truth....factor in the stature and star potential in this years La. class and the meltdown would be beyond epic. maybe the Mayans and their calendar were off one year.

get better.

how is LSU being any more aggressive than last year with oos guys. about 1/2 the guys from last year are oos, about same as this year so far.
don't think for a moment that any la. player with an LSU offer will have his slot filled with an oos guy in MARCH. NO.

I could see us only taking one tight end in this class (Washington). No source, just a hunch because I think Smith may redshirt since it appears he is fourth on the depth chart behind Dickson, Stokes and Gordon.

You are forgetting about QB. I think we will almost definitely take one, probably DeShone Kizer.

Other than that I agree with your list.

And then A&M takes some of our leftovers and brags again about they raided Louisiana.

can't do that. being passive just doesn't work in the long run. recruiting is a man's job and requires balls. texas damn sure ain't the only place that contains top quality players and LSU must recruit all over the country to maintain it's status as a top flight program. i believe we will always sign most of the top flight guys from La (as long as miles is here) but year in and year out LSU needs more numbers and always has. the DIFFERENCE MILES MAKES is that we are attracting top quality oos talent where we used to get leftovers to a great extent. LSU will have a schollie reserved for the top La players. no way will we turn one down that wants to go to LSU. it's never happenened and it never will. the one's leaving the state made their choice, not the other way around. yea, the staff has to make choices; not all La talent is SEC material.

He hasn't even practiced yet, nor have they finalized a depth chart.
