will have played their last games as LSU Tigers when the final horn blows on this years season. He hopes they come back, but he thinks they both are leaving. Cited financial needs and school fatigue as major reasons.
If they leave, JJ needs to sign a legit big to play next year. Cannot count on Elbert, Malone, Epps...has to be good enough to "start" and be a major contributor.

Not enough. Got to be good enough up front so that Victor comes off the bench.

We can play small, Ben Simmons can be our big

Why does victor need to come off the bench?

So Victor, who only got 4 minutes a game at Arizona is going to replace either Martin or Mickey? Simmons is good enough to replace one of them, Victor ain't on that level.

You're right...it ain't. But if you aspire to compete for a Natty you have to find that other piece. You have to.

So you think there's two guys as good as M&M sitting out there just waiting to commit to LSU?

If Mickey and Martin leave we are a Sweet 16 or Elite 8 team next year with the following starters:

PG: TQ
SG: Blakeney
SG: Hornsby
PF: Simmons
C: Victor

If we land Malik, he will probably start at PG and TQ or Hornsby would come in off the bench. That leaves Patterson, Epps, Malone, Robinson, and Gray as depth. Malone and Epps should be serviceable and hopefully Robinson improves. Mickey should stay. I don't think he gets drafted and he really helps us next year if he stays.

Let's make the tourney 2 years in a row before we increase our expectations too much.

Simmons is as good as Martin or Mickey. Victor is not. So there will be a drop off in the front court if they both leave. You CANNOT count on Malone, Elbert or Epps..

So name someone who we can get that has played >4 minutes per game at a school better than Arizona..I'll let coach know we need to get that guy.

I hope you are right. But that's like saying Anthony Jennings will be Heisman candidate next year. The sample size we got this year on Malone is not promising and Elbert can't play in front of Malone.

Victor would likely have started the season at PF, with Martin at SF. Coach Jones didn't want to start 3 guards, but he was forced to.

I'm just saying :
Martin & Mickey > Simmons & Victor.

Should have never let the center for Vandy get out of Baton Rouge. He would have been the perfect fit....

He's gonna have to start 3 guards next year, too.
