Along these lines I'm interested in knowing how 2 or 3 of the top LA bluechippers went elsewhere. And why.
Really? Are you serious? Did you even follow recruiting this year?

The class in 2010 included decommits as well, was rated 7 on scout and turned out to be star studded. This class had decommits and finished 7 on scout.

I like the class and say 7 of 10. I like the fact the coaches supplemented losses; Liggins for Kiel, Thompson for LC, and Kwon for Shiro (although not planned and provided Shiro played LB). I also like the fact the staff addressed a major need at LB and pulled 5 guys I think have no ceiling.

but this class is not what it should/could have been
We were not getting Kiel, Collins or Devall.

We missed on Davis.

8.5 maybe 9. This is a solid class. No one player stands out but they each have tremendous potential, just like any other class. We had 3 dissappointing non-signings and 22 exiting new stories to watch.

The teams that rank the highest in recruiting are the ones who win. DEAL WITH IT. It was a mediocre class by our standards but not bad.

I agree you need consistency in recruiting but I think top 10 annually will provide a good coaching staff the talent to develop. LSU should finish 7 on scout hitting top 10 for the 7th consecutive season under CLM, hardly mediocre when you consider there are over 120 Div 1 schools.

(6) Underachieved for the type of season we had. This class would be and 8 if our record was 8-4 or 9-3 this year but we were 13-1 and played for the title.

LSU Guy makes a good point:
We were never likely to get Devall, Collins or Kiel ( whose "commitment" was an aberration and was unlikely).
Davis is a straight out loss. As I read his interview, I got the impression he was looking for guidance and felt he got it form the new Texas guy. Decarlos Holmes amy have alos been a negative factor.
My immediate impression: LSU didn't keep up with this commitment and we lost him. That should never happen.

10. This is a class for freshmen to compete on a spot for champions. We are stacked. Leauge is fricked. Even if we don't have a quarterback we will run it down your throat. If Mett is decent we will b out for blood. Chip on shoulder attitude defense. This is a set- up class for next year. A perfect 10. 2 National Championship appearances in 2 years. Possible first team to 3 crystal balls. WE ARE LSU.

8 this class has talent and when talent mixes with talent which we already have it gets better...Davis was a miss but the other 2 never wanted to go to LSU, DD & LC so they never would have performed as they should...e.g. RR in my opinion he never wanted to come to LSU but was pressured by his family/friends and felt he didn't have a choice...he never lived up to the potential he has at LSU but will show at the next level...

7. Never know how the guys we got were on LSU's board. Not a bad class on the surface.

RR didn't fail LSU with his performance.
If anything, we failed him.
He MUST wonder if he should have gone elsewhere.
He was a great college WR waiting to happen. JJ was just to incompetent to get it to him.
I feel badly for him.
